Yesterday's movie made me think of You

DH and I finally watched the movie "Drumline" yesterday. There was a scene in the movie that made me think of this board. There is a female in the movie who plays the drums -- a role mostly filled by males. Well, as part of their conditioning, the section leader has the drum section do push-ups. One of the guys looks over at the female doing the push-ups and tells her, "Maybe you should drop down to your knees and do girl push-ups. You know, men like soft women."

She gives him a smirk, puts one arm behind her back, and completes the rest of her 30 push-ups with one arm!!! That's What a Real Gym Rat Would Do!

I liked the movie but DH liked it more because he played the drums in that kind of a marching band when he was younger. Someone who goes to sporting events and pays attention to the bands would appreciate it more than someone who goes to the games to watch the football game. It was a fun movie, didn't require a lot of thinking -- just feeling.

LOL, or at least what this gymrat would love to be able to do.

We went to a taekwando demostration yesterdar (please excuse all the typos, I'm on my husband's laptop because our computer has been packed). The woman who put it together got her third degree backbelt. She did some really impressive things-- jumping high and breaking boards that were held level to her head, spinning kicks and breaking boards, etc. I might look into an adult ptogram when we move. I've been asking the instructor to do a self-defense type class for the past few years. Well, he's doing one this fall---after we move!

I've heard it was a really good flick. A guy from my intercultural communication class was a student at Bethune-Cookman prior to coming here and played on their team. He knew a few of the people in the movie so we talked about it when it first came out. I'll have to get it from the sounds of it, the scene you described certainly earned the girl a gym rat's membership!

Thanks for the motivation to go pick it up~
