Happy Weekend folks. I put in a class this morning. We had a sub that I just love and it was so good seeing her. I really had fun today, and acted like a bit of a nut with my friend. I think the sub was happy to see so much enthusiasm and smiles. I sang to the songs also. Classes have become such work for me as of late, I'm really focusing on my moves and my breathing....so today I decided to kick back just a little bit and have fun..which is why I fell in love with Jazzercise to begin with. I even told Grace the other night that she looked so serious when she was working out with me but she goes into a class with that "instructor mode"....Trying to get the moves perfect and keeping up with the "choreography" (although non-jazzercise instructors don't use that word...they say "Combos" I think.)

I did pretty well with eating yesterday and I hope to keep that up today.

brunch: omelette with peppers and onions, FF cheese

lunch: roasted lamb with a tiny bit of wasabi mayo on a whole wheat wrap.

dinner; chicken breast, salad and stir fry veggies.

fruit

During classes, I'll start counting and things in my head, planning on how I'd cue if I were teaching.

Oh yeah, I'm going to have a glass of wine right now, too, to add to the food journal.

i say the same things jean does - i call the dance-like moves that make up a step class or an aerobics class in general to be choreography. (but i wouldn't call the exercises in a cardio kickboxing class or a sculpt class choreography.) and "combos" are the 32 count sections that the choreography is made up of.

i had pilates sat. morning and i played DDR this afternoon. tomorrow (sun.) i'm teaching step at 8 (need to get to sleep!) then i'm making a lasagna and bringing over to a friend who just adopted a baby.

Jean! I'm in shock that you fell off the wagon foodwise. You're always so good. Well it happens to the best of us, some of us more than others. I refuse to be someone that never has pizza or fried food again, it just can't be a regular part of my diet.

Jazzercise instructors don't know what the 32 count is. Well maybe they do but they don't use that. They go by the music to know when they should do what and when. There isn't alot of counting going on in their heads, in fact at screening we were told NOT to count...that was something done in the 80's.

Made it to 8 am class today. That is a shocker! It was cut short due to communication problems with the "regular" gym classes. Total mayhem. Alot of Jazzwhining. I just go with the flow, these things happen and I was happy that we got cardio in.

Such a gorgeous day out! I'm going to bring children to see grandparents today. UGH. Pray that I can ignore ignorant comments. Does anyone know if I can drink wine when on augmentin??

Well...I don't really consider it falling off the wagon as much as it's part of a healthy diet to be able to eat junk in moderation and not think about it too much.

I think of some things in kickboxing as choreography, depending on the instructor. I've had some who teach it in combos like aerobics, only using kickboxing moves.

that's what i've heard - the best thing to do for new parents is to bring them food that's easy to heat up. the lasagna should feed them for most of the week!!

OMG. I could never teach a class where I was forced to teach predetermined choreography all the time. The closest I've come to this is when we first added the weightlifting class that Body Pump is styled after. Everyone had to do the same muscle groups in same order, using the most basic exercises for the first 6 weeks just to establish the class w/ some sort of continuity while the participants learned the proper form/technique. After that we were only bound by doing each muscle group for 4 min. segments w/ a 1 min. stretch break in between. What exercises and what order is up to us. Members are constantly commenting on how great it is to get such a wide vareity of intensive strength workouts because we all do things so differently.

it would be so boring to teach the same class over and over, and i'd think it'd be boring to take the class too! i wouldn't even like to be restricted to doing each muscle group for 4 minutes.

personally, i could never teach jazzercise where you had to memorize the exact moves to each part of the song - and then remember multiple songs, too!! i guess dancers do it all the time, but i could never do it. i can barely remember 4 or 5 combos for a class.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you fell off the wagon into a vast dark hole of gloom. I don't know what it is like to have that one piece of candy, or that small piece of cake, so to me it really is black and white. I'm either on the wagon of healthy eating or off of it. maybe someday things will change for me.
