I spend Thanksgiving w/my bf's family. They have a very large family (he has 5 brothers and sisters, 3 bro and sister-in laws, 1 grandma, and 12 nieces and nephews), so they have designated Thanksgiving as their holiday together. Whomever can make it to his parents' house gets there on Xmas or Xmas Eve, but EVERYONE is there for Thanksgiving. After a few miserable years of learning to split holidays w/my evil XH and his psychotic family, I couldn't be happier with this arrangement. (Thanksgiving w/his family, Xmas w/mine).

I also have to work the day after so I get out of spending the night. :)

The food is amazing - - 2 big turkeys, SEVERAL baking sheet-size pies, vats of potatoes and dressing............................

We are going over to MIL's for dinner because she won't have it any other way. *sigh* (DH and I actually bought our own turkey though and I suspect we'll have our own thanksgiving dinner at some point). MIL has agreed to let DH bring biscuits and I'm bringing two desserts, I think.

that's true, at least it doesn't involve gifts - that's something to be said for it. but it does celebrate American imperialism, gluttony, mass animal torture and murder, and the kick-off of the extinction or near extinction of the people of an entire continent, so despite the refreshing lack of presents, it still wins the award for my number 1 most hated holiday. Despite my dislike of gifts, I actually don't mind Christmas that much, because it is at least supposed to be about
