tried the step mill finally!

it seems like it would be a good workout, but the machine my gym has, the steps are way too short!! i have small feet too - a women's size 7 - and i could barely fit my whole foot on the step. i kept getting my toes pinched in the crease as the step moved down. i'm not going to use it with my heel hanging off the back of the step! it was frustrating. i don't think i'd use the machine much because of this problem.

do others experience this, or does my gym just have a cruddy version of the machine?

I've personally never used one, but have been quite skeptical about them. I guess it seems to me that you could get a decent workout, but really challenging yourself doesn't seem like an option. Skeptical me, however, would love to be proven wrong!

My gym just got ellipitcal machines about 2 years ago (another machine that I was quite skeptical about)... so we probably won't get those step-mill machines in for some time.

I hope someone else has experience to share!

i think it's a life fitness brand. it does look pretty cheap though. i just can't imagine who can use that machine with the tiny steps!! certainly no men.

I can't remember what brand the stepmill is at my gym, because I always thought that the steps were very large vertically, so that you had to lift your foot up a lot more than real stairs to complete a step.

The Stairmaster step mill steps are 9" deep so not enough to get a whole foot on. I don't mind my heels hanging off the end, though.
