I brought this up with the aerobics director who loved it but she said she's really busy right now (she's a trainer and teacher too and works from 9am until past 10pm these days).

I think it's a wonderful plan! I'd sign up if my gym offered it.
My gym has a Christmas class, and this year, there were 5 sections (the class ran 1.5 hours total):
1. warmup/step
2. hi/lo
3. kickboxing
4. abs & conditioning
5. cooldown/stretch
Each section was 20-25 min (check the math and see if it adds up ;))
The thing is the aerobics room isn't that big as it is--you've seen it.
I think those all sound like great ideas, Jean.
