I am really nervous about it for some reason.

How does she do step and sculpting at the same time? Does she alternate? It's not safe to lift while you're doing a step routine, though we used to do it in the 80's and early 90's before the guidelines.

Yes, basically she alternates.

That's the format of the class I might sub, too.

by the way, don't forget to plug your 4:30 class when you teach other classes!

I looked it up and the class is called Cardio 1&1. It is alternating 1 minute intervals and I don't know how to go from one to the other in that short of a time. I have to follow the schedule and it takes a few seconds or so just to set up the sculpting part. Maybe it will be fast moving, but as you can tell, I would much rather do the cardio all at once and then sculpt at the end.

An instructor in another class was doing the sculpting while doing step. She did go half time with the arms while stepping. I took a continueing ed class with AFAA about interval classes and it is not recommended. A real interval workout would be if you are walking and then did intervals of faster walking or jogging and keep alternating that. But, stopping and picking up weights is not true interval. Also, the presenter demonstrated what happens to your posture and form when you step with weights in your hands. Not pretty at all but most people don't realize it. I just wish guidelines were followed more closely especially by management of the gyms....especially this big chain that I sub at.

Sigh

It does take a minute to stop and get the weights.... and doing the half time with the weights,,well, it just felt so strange to me.
