What's everyone up to this weekend?

Today I start working longer hours, I'm teaching group theory lessons at the music school. I am used to one on one. Tonight I am meeting my bf's dad and sisters for the first time. I am of course nervous about that. We are going out for high end Thai food.

These days I do not exercise on weekends. Once upon a time I'd do the 75 minute Saturday class religiously, I wish I had time for that now. My gym has a new class on Saturday mornings that appears to be quite inconvenient: it's an elliptical class that takes place on the gym floor, Saturday mornings at 9:30! I don't know about your gym, but my gym is very busy at that time, and can you imagine how much busier the other cardio machines would be when all the ellipticals are taken?

What is an elliptical class?

My gym does that with the Treadmills during the week at peak time, it is so annoying.

I did bootcamp and arms this morning. Nobody showed up for my kickboxing class and I am bummed because had I'd known nobody would come I had the opportunity to get water aerobics certified for $20. My old swim instructor boss would have hired me in a heartbeat if I had that certification. I am only upset because three people had told me that they were going to be at my class this morning. I'm sorry, but if I tell somebody that I am going to show up, I show up. They better be sick, or they are going to have a killer workout on Monday.

have a good one, enjoy the snow. I am of course to far south to see it, we are suppose to have freezing rain--yuk, I'd much rather have snow.

I had my alarm set for my 7:30am BodyStep class, but after driving home last night in a blinding snow storm, I opted to not work out so early. DH is going to do his 10 mile run in a few minutes and then I plan on doing a half an hour on the eliptical and some ab work. An eliptical class would be great during the non-peak time! I'd do it in a minute!

Breakfast today: Eggbeaters & cheese omelet with an orange
Lunch: Meatloaf and a salad
Snack: Energy bar
Dinner: Chicken lasagna

Tomorrow I plan on doing more eliptical and maybe a ride on the bike.

I'd like to catch up on a little sleep this wkend with dh here, but things aren't looking good. I have to find a way to get some sleep...

Breakfast - waffle, eggs, sausage, fresh fruit

A.M. Snack - Celery sticks

Lunch - Chicken, greens, yams, salad

P.M. Snack - Chili

Dinner - Steak, salad

Lots of water and lemon water today. No workout***

*** I'm going to start light exercises next week. The doctor's instructions said no exercise for 4-6 weeks. I will be starting my 4th week next week and I think I can handle a few weights -- nothing too heavy.

I imagine that the elliptical class is like spin with ellipticals, guess I won't find out, since I have to work Saturday mornings for the next 6 months...

I planned to go to the hi/lo class at Bally's today since I knew the instructor who was teaching it and she gave a great class at Powerhouse. I wanted to get another workout in before the snow. Well...I was extremely disappointed today. She pitched up the music to such a fast pace that I could not perform the moves. She was already using an aerobic tape and pitched it up all the way. It was fine for jacks but that was about it. My feet started to hurt and that affected my knees, especially my left one. I hope I didn't hurt anything. I cannot twist it the least little bit now without tenderness. I left the class...I don't like to do that, but the people were so wild in the class, I couldn't find a corner and to do low impact, which would have been impossible anyway with the fast music. I tried to use a cardio machine but the place was so packed, none were available. I did find a recumbent bike after a bit, but I really wanted an elliptical machine.

I went back in to take the body scupting class. I am going to be very very sore...she did way too many reps. It was very hard to keep proper form. OK, I am done complaining.

I was really hoping to do ok with eating but with being snowed in, I don't think I am going to stay on program. Kind of blew it already. Oh, well...hopefully we will be dug out for Monday so I can get back to the gym.

Bally's was crazy today at 9 am and I couldn't imagine using cardio machines for a class. You would think they would do a class at your gym that would enable more people to do cardio without tying up the cardio machines. I used to do 1 1/2 to 2 hours on Sat religiously too. Someday I will be back to that.

No real plans were made since the snow was predicted. I am hoping there will be some good bad movies on Lifetime.

LOL!

That is very disappointing about the class, Paula and missing out on the certification class. It is good to have that since more gyms are getting pools and the "seniors" and the "injured" really like water aerobic classes.

I don't understand gyms using cardio machines for classes at peak time. I would think the members who don't like to take classes would be really annoyed.

I think snow is better than freezing rain too. DS in Moyock NC said they are getting the rain.

Try to stay dry!

Oh...I am supposed to sub a boot camp class Wed. Unfortunately, it is sandwiched between two body toning classes which I am teaching also. I don't get this schedule and how basically 3 muscles strengthening classes are in a row. The manager said to keep it mostly cardio, but I don't think I know how to do that. I can do "drills" but I don't think my knees or my feet can take it. I am going to call the manager and ask exactly what I am supposed to do. The only boot camp video I have is the Crunch one and it is a lot of muscle strengthening.

Any ideas?

Do you have an elliptical machine at home? I saw the Precors on TV today and they cost about $2500...I would love to have one. I might see if DH thinks it is a good idea and maybe we could get it for each other and not get presents for each other for years!!! We have a good treadmill...a Pacemaster, but I can't use it since it hurts my feet too much to push off when power walking.

Oh, I like the idea of chicken lasagna. Maybe I will make that tomorrow with the chicken I took out for today but I will NOT be cooking. I got the grumpy mood and I just don't feel like cooking.

Have a good one. Good safe thinking to stay in with that snow storm.

The thing about boot camp classes is that you only have to show them a couple of times, then you can walk around yelling at them. LOL, not that I did that but you could! Suicides are great--you'd barely have to do them and there are so many variations. I brought cones to class, had them run 1/3 of the way, leave a cone, 2/3 of the way, leave
