have you seen The Life Aquatic yet? i never saw Lost in Translation - i should rent it. the only wes anderson movie i've seen is Rushmore and i didn't like it at all. i know, i'm weird, everyone else loves that movie.
i saw Ocean's Twelve this weekend, it was fun. i liked it better than Ocean's Eleven, which is rare to like a sequel more than the original (even though the original was a remake).
most of the movies i saw this year did not come out this year - they were all older movies i rented through netflix. here is a list of my favorite movies i saw this year, in no particular order:
oh yeah! that was a good one too! funny that Daphne Zuniga ended up on Melrose Place, and Hilary Swank got her start on 90210. since Melrose Place was a spin off of 90210 and several 90210 characters showed up on Melrose Place, that makes for a very interesting link for the "Seven Degrees of Kevin Bacon" game. For instance, it makes it easy to connect Lili Taylor to Hilary Swank (two of my favorite actors) - Lili Taylor appeared in Say Anything with John Cusack who appeared in The Sure Thing with Daphne Zuniga who appeared on Melrose Place with Tori Spelling who appeared on 90210 with Hilary Swank!!!!
The only movie on the list I saw was Sideways and loved it! My sister & I wanted to go because we love Virginia Madsen and wine. I also wanted to see Thomas Hayden Church, who did a great job. Made us want to go to Napa Valley.
I saw a lot of the movies from that list. Some in the theater, some on TV, and rented some. Probably my favorite from the list is Amadeus. I will watch it over and over! Another favorite is Chicago. Whenever I see it, I keep humming the music over and over again. I'm afraid to buy the CD for that very reason.
My all time favorite move is "An Affair to Remember". I cry each and every time. My next all time favorite (and makes me cry each time, too) is "The Joy Luck Club".
Count me among the John Cusack, Bill Murray, and Tom Hanks fans. If the movie has any one of them, I will watch it!
I haven't seen the Life Aquatic yet... I can't wait though. I think you have to have a certain stunted, dry sense of humor to love Wes Anderson's movies. :) I know quite a few people that can't imagine why I love the movie "Rushmore."
Lost in Translation was a fabulous movie. Very beautiful!
Did you like Donnie Darko? I did... I just remembered that I think Jake Gyllenthaal is incredibly talented - I'll go see or rent movies that he's in (not "The Day after Tomorrow" though.)
