I like some of the classes that are blended. I just get really "scared" when I see "Pilates" being used in the name. I wish they would call it something like mat work because Pilates should be pure just like yoga should be because people come in thinking that is what they are getting. I don't think that sentence made sense. Anyway, that is my thinking. I also like when the class is broken down into sections...like a 20 minute segment of cardio, with 20 minutes of muscle conditioning and then 20 minutes of stretching (pilates or yoga moves).

I saw the informercial today for the new Windsor Fat Burning Pilates. Lose weight and burn fat in only 20 minutes a day, 3 times a week. Oh, if it were only true! Anyway...it is aerobics mixed in with standing Pilates. Maybe that boot camp pilates is on the same line as this.

I do agree with that. ... Pilates is like that at our gym.

There are vertical moves to pilates that just seem like balancing....When I studied real pilates it was all floor work.

i agree that i wish they'd just call it core conditioning or mat class or whatever, but i'm sure it's because of the money - for marketing purposes "pilates"

i am aware of a few things in "real" pilates that require you to stand but mostly mat pilates is all on the mat. and i'm sure that the pilates boot camp is not doing the few standing moves that i know of from real pilates.
