Joints

I've noticed lately that my joints are popping and cracking a little more. Now my normal weekly workout regimine includes spinning, running, some weights, some yoga and recently "aerobics" from my new video "game" (if you haven't heard of Yourself Fitness, see http://yourselffitness.com, it rocks). I like my routine; it seems well rounded to me. I eat rather decently (lunch today is leftover sweet potatoes & brussell sprouts and a smoothie, with trail mix for later). Am I just getting old (at 27)? Is there something I can do to ensure my joints don't go out before I do?

Thanks!

yeah, i don't think popping joints is a sign that there is anything currently wrong with your joints. at least i've never heard that it was. the concern is more that the popping itself will end up damaging them over the long run. that's why i was suggesting alterning your motions to avoid the pops. for instance, i know that certain exercises in pilates will make my hip pop. so i use a smaller range of motion that won't cause the pop.

I think you hit it jen, I am just worried that I will end up screwing something up later on down the line (at my ripe old age of 27). Yes I pop my neck and back on purpose and that feels great. But very rarely do i pop anything else on purpose. I get running shoes with a good arch and trade them in every few months (strictly workout shoes and running is done mostly on the treadmill). This just hit me the other day while doing 'step-touches' and as my arms were going up (shoulder high, no weights) my shoulders popped. Just got me thinking. Since nothing is hurting will mention this at the next doc visit, just to make sure. May ask about the glucosomine; since I am epileptic don't wnat to just start taking someting that could cause me to have seizures. ;)

Thanks everyone!

I lurk and ask something rarely, there's only so much time in the day! There are a few other boards that I've been to as well. A long while back I used to CL the Continuing Education board. :) Will keep an eye on things, and hopefully I won't mess anything up in the process. Thanks all!
