Hip Tips?

I'm talking about my physical hips. Ever since I went on the Pill (and not dancing has contributed I'm sure), I've gained a bit around my lower abs, and my hips. I eat right and avoid sugar that would cause bloat (eating issues will be another post). Cardio obviously will shed pounds. And I do abs and lateral exercises to try to get rid of my stomach and "backfat" But is there anything else I can do to trim that area? My cute pink cords don't fit me anymore and it's because of the extra weight there. And I just hate looking all pear-shaped at the bottom, since I'm pretty small on top. Ugh....

apart from some kind of medical intervention (what was that thing you are going to try kel?) there is no way to control where you lose weight from. you can tone those areas, but it won't make them smaller, unfortunately.
are you going to a gym these days? you might want to try the abductor machine for toning the hips. i have found that my adductors are much stronger (from spinning, running, etc.) than my abductors. so i started isolating the abductors with the abductor machine. you can also isolate them by using a exertube ring around your ankles and stepping side to side or lifting your leg out to the side, or lying on your side over a stability ball and raising your leg (for more intensity rest a light handweight on your leg right above the knee).
Other than more cardio and weight training to burn more calories and speed up your metabolism some (since, at least I did, being a grad student can be sedentary), maybe you can ask at the birth control board about this.
