Starting a fresh thread. Again, I'm seeking daily success in one area to help get myself back on track with long term goals and success. I need to feel good about something before I tackle the major stuff:-)
Saturday's goal-- take Loki mutt for a long walk when we are done carving.
Sunday's goal-- ten sit-ups or push-ups for each commercial break during the superbowl!
Side note: Did anyone else get hooked on The Biggest Loser? I loved the day that the trainer (can't remember which one but it sounds like Jillian) made them do the 500 situps, squats, pushups? There is a long term goal I would like to do!

I actually considered starting a thread like this earlier today...
DH and I are in the midst of cleaning out the house and packing up things that we won't miss for the next month or so. I went to tackle my closet and decided that I would throw out anything that doesn't fit me *right now*. And I did. In all honesty, I got a little emotional because there's a part of me that feels like a failure every time I see those clothes that don't fit me. But that's why I'm getting rid of them. I am doing my damnest to accept the fact that I may never be a different size other than what I am now and I don't need a closetful of clothes taunting me. So, my closet is pretty sparse but everything in it fits.
My goal tomorrow is not to nibble too much while making Superbowl goodies. I'm making red velvet cupcakes (go Pats!) and chocolate chip cookies. I positively love cookie dough and that's always one of my biggest temptations. I am going to allow myself to pretty much eat whatever I want tomorrow but I'm going to try not to do much cookie-dough skanking as I am so apt to do. :)
Start with me this week! I'm going to do the coolrunning.com program.
remember, the key is to take it slowly EVEN IF YOU FEEL LIKE YOU CAN PUSH HARDER. that is something running experts say time and again, and i have seen it validated in practice many times. everyone i know who has run a lot has messed up knees or IT bands or something now and some can barely do ANY kind of exercise. so i honestly don't think this is a form of exercise someone should start unless she's willing to be very safe and moderate about it.
i'll run a 5k with you guys. if you follow your training when should you be running 5k?
Thank you for pointing that out! My IT band problems started in 99 when I increased my running distance too quickly while wearing the wrong sort of shoes. I went from 3 miles a day, five days a week to 6-10 miles a day, 6 days a week over just a three week span. It was too much, too fast. I have had pain every time I've run, at around the half mile point, since then. I lost the ability to do something that I loved because I felt I could do more. I could do the distance easily based on my endurance and cardio level, my body just couldn't take the stress.
Go easy, and stop if your joints/knees hurt and get them checked out. Don't try to run through pain unless you are entirely certain what the pain is from!

The problem with that training is that it doesn't tell you how fast to take it, just how long or far.
I'm planning on doing this in addition to my normal workouts, too.
