Hi! I'm Jennifer. I don't know if you'd call me a gym rat, maybe a gym mouse. I'm there about 3-4 times a week. I started this in June.
Basically, I'm confused now. I want to tone my upper body and slim down my lower body. I am also doing cardio.
So what should I be doing??
For my upper body I'm doing heavy weights 3 sets, 8-10 reps. Or however you say that.
For my lower body I'm doing for reps... 18, 3 sets.
I'm just really frustrated with my lower body... too big. My thighs especially.
Any suggestions??
Btw... I'm 5'8", 148.

I hear ya. I carry all of my weight below the bellybutton as well and my face will start looking anorexic yet the bootie is still there. :)
You want to be doing two weight training sessions per week and your sets look good. For the lower body, I'd probably go heavier so that you start failing around rep 10 or 12. 4-5 days of cardio is recommended as well.
Unfortunately, there are those of us who are pears in Mother Nature's fruit salad and try as we might, our pear-ness is here to stay. You can fight poor eating habits and lack of exercise, but you can't fight genetics.
Hope that helps! :)
