what do you think that means when a doctor says that? does it mean "exercise if it doesn't hurt" or "exercise if you don't mind it hurting"?

as you know, i had surgery last thursday. i want to go to yoga tonight but my stomach is still really sore when i bend over or twist, or even walk quickly. it's like a bruised kind of soreness, plus also like a tightness and pulling feeling from the incision. my doctor said i can exercise after monday, if i feel up to it. i can handle exercising through the soreness, but i don't know if the presence of pain means that i shouldn't exercise. or maybe the stretching would be good for me?

Thats so funny, I hate that too. What I really want to know is if I exercise am I in any way going to hurt myself or take a step back in recovery. Honestly ask the doctor for a date I am better when I ask for a date from the doctor. And use your judgement you know what your body can and cannot do.

much better, thanks. i did the elliptical today and lifted upper body with only a little discomfort, so i think i'm pretty much home free.
