i can't remember the brand name of the vegan jerky - i'll have to check and let you know. this brand has three types - seitan based, shiitake based, and soy based. i usually eat the one that is teriayki flavoured (i put the "u" in there just for you sol!) because it is seitan based and i feel like i get enough soy as it is. it's yummy.
the show was really fabulous. these guys are great. and i'm not just saying that because the singer is my friend --
Thanks for the 'u'. After all these years in Canada I have troble (sic?) deciphering 'American'. I just saw I book about punctuation that looks really funny (yes I said punctuation). It's called Eats, Shoots and Leaves. Anyhoo... I haven't had the chance to try seitan yet so maybe this should be my intro.
DH & I used to go out to see some great bands all the time, then parenthood came along. Oh well. As someone who's vertically challenged I always went to the front of the pit, against the stage. Great view of the show, but I left w/ bruised hips & ribs from being jammed against the stage & the occasional black eye or fat lip from an inconsiderate stage diver or crowd surfer. It was fun nonetheless. I agree moshing, even thrashing, was different way back when. Sure it looked rough but people were mostly somewhat controlled and aware of & considerate to those around them. I'll keep an eye out for Strike Anywhere. We have some awesome venues for 'alternative' shows here and get a steady flow of great bands from all over the world. We're a great city for seeing blues musicians too.
Glad to hear you had such a great time. I should mention I went out w/ some gals for the first time in many years & we went to a bar that had an awesome 80s cover band and I thought that you would've had a great time w/ us. We headed straight to the dance floor & pretty much stayed there 'til we left to go home & watch "Phantom of the Paradise".
>the best place for a shorty to stand at a show if you want to see the stage is directly >behind the mosh pit, because around the outside of the people moshing there is a bit of >open buffer space, which means no tall people standing there in front of you.
That's a great tip! I have never heard that before.
oh, i've seen that before! not those specific girls, but basically the same idea. it looks great! when i first heard about it, my friend and i (the one who does Krav Maga) were talking about how she and i were going to start "straight edge vegan hardcore aerobics" and we were half serious about it too. but then she moved away and i forgot about the whole thing until now.
i love the jumpsuit they made that says "Minor Sweat" LOL!!!!!!
