We really don't do anything outside of a card and a nice dinner for Valentine's Day. We save our money to get really nice gifts for Mother's & Father's Day!

A card. I bought him a mess of tools (well, us) over the past two weeks. And we have the Pro-bowl tomorrow, of course it is more for me than him...

I won't get more than a card either, I cashed in my Valentines/Birthday/Anniversary gifts three weeks ago when I got the c-section for the kitty. That was pretty much our gift budget for the year... then some.

We are in save mode for the Junior Nationals this summer.

I'm cooking dinner, shepherd's pie with mashed cauli instead of potatoes, and vanilla ice cream rolled in coconut bits (we had this in Cuba and it is delicious) Oh, and I bought a bottle of Moet & Chandon.

i have to teach kickboxing after work on monday, so don't have time for a big thing. T is going to cook dinner - i asked for a heart-shaped pizza! - and bring home dessert from the bakery.

we don't do presents. i got him a crazy card that is a cereal box for "love crunchies" or some kind of joke cereal. it's an actual cardboard box, so i'm going to put his cereal in it (we buy in bulk so it's in a big bag now) and leave it out for him to find monday morning. it seemed like more fun than a regular card. i also brought him pink roses last week b/c the guy at the metro was selling a half dozen for $2.

That's sweet with the cereal.

no it's pre-bagged. i guess it's not really bulk, but it's generic brand and comes in giant bags.

i also cut out a lot of red paper hearts and stuck them all kinds of places for him to find this morning - in his slipper, between the bristles of his toothbrush, in the little pouch where he keeps his metro card, etc. etc. did i mention that valentine's day is one of my favorite holidays?

i am dressed very valentiney today: i'm wearing a skirt that is all different shades of pink/hot pink/burgundy, a burgundy shirt, a pink cardigan with swallows on it, a heart-shaped necklace, black tights (i didn't have any color that matched better :( ) and burgundy pumps. the skirt is the same skirt i wore four years ago when i first met T and surprised him at work for valentine's day (he worked nights back then).

addition to tonight's menu - champagne with dessert, yum. the heart-shaped pizza is going to have pizza sauce, black and green olives, artichoke hearts (supposed to be an aphrodisiac), and roasted garlic. hopefully dessert will be these heart-shaped mini-cakes, if the bakery has them again this year - they are so delicious and adorable. it's a little personal-sized heart-shaped chocolate cake, with raspberry filling, and coated with like a hard pink frosting shell. (what is that kind of frosting called? it's almost like the frosting you'd find on a frosted doughnut.)

Me either. We went out to dinner Friday and Saturday night, so why wait over an hour tonight just to get seated. I might cook, we might go to movies, we may do nothing. We are going to decide this afternoon.

It DH's B-Day so I'm making him dinner before I go to work (I don't get home 'til about 7:30). He loves my Shrimp Etouffe (it's a cajun stew of shrimp & veggies in a thick spicy gravy that I serve over a rice blend pilaf. I'll serve it w/ a bottle of his favourite beer followed by a heart shaped strawberry shortcake. Kinda sucks that the rice is the only thing I'll eat the same, but I made my choice & I'm not going to serve him vegan fare on his birthday just so we can have the same thing (I did that yesterday). I give him a Valentine card every year w/ Happy Birthday added inside & of course he gets presents.

Well, in light of our fight and the fact that he hadn't mentioned it, I figured Wes and I would just skip it. I didn't even want to do something for him, to make him feel like he had to reciprocate. I made him a tasty dinner last night, though, with homemade cheesecake and he loved it. He appreciated the effort and thought. Somewhere in the convo, he let it slip that he'd actually been planning all along to make me a nice dinner on Tuesday, for V-Day- he works til 10 on Mondays, so no celebrating on the actual day. He kind of wanted it to be a surprise, which I thought was cute! I can't wait to see what he cooks- even if it's not so good, it'll still be the nicest thing :) Other than that, I don't believe we're doing gifts or anything like that, which is fine. I just got him a toothbrush to keep here- does that count?!

Despite your argument, it's sweet that you're both still planning to (or you already did) make dinner for each other.
