Amending my journal.... I tried to do the running thing today but about 10 minutes in, I acknowledged that I was just too tired. I stopped, did some abs and called it a day. I'm mentioning this because I am extremely bad about listening to my body and I'm notorious for pushing through fatigue just to meet a goal. Prior to my attempted cardio, we had a member go down on the floor and I had to call the paramedics so I'm sure that just added to my fatigue.
i keep getting all kinds of compliments on my hair - i'll have to take a pic for you all...
today i subbed step at lunch - only two people to start the class - one beginner, one very advanced. i thought i was screwed! i decided to keep my intermediate choreography, since that is what the teacher i was subbing for does, but just do more reps in building up to it. that way the beginner could get a hang of it, and the advanced person would still be getting a workout, and would eventually get to do the broken down intermediate choreography. well, within literally the first minute and a half, the advanced person leaves. i don't know how she knew she wouldn't like the class that quickly, but whatever. so at first i thought it would suck to have to teach this one person, but it turned out well. i simplified the choreography a bit on the fly (which meant it wasn't in 32 count blocks anymore, but who really cares) and did a lot of repetition. she could mostly follow along by the end, and mentioned a few times during our water breaks that she was sweating a lot and getting a good workout, so that's what's important, right? so it turned out ok.
tonight i teach my hi/lo class for the last time - i gave this class up.
food-
coffee, luna bar, smoothie, burrito
Thai soup with added veggies for dinner (didn't have it last night, had ww pasta instead)
It's step classes with more movement. You start with a floor warm-up, then to the step, then you reach a peak, then you go to your first recovery, then go to your second peak, then the "party step" and then to the final peak. You sweat and tone throughout the class. Here's a link to the website: http://www.lesmills.com/main/classes/bodystep.aspx
Don't you just hate when an "advanced" person just up and leaves a class? Too bad she didn't give you more time to see if she liked the class. I have to say, you did great catering to the beginner and I bet she comes to more step classes now since you spent so much time with her. You both got a workout and that IS what counts.
Was there a reason you gave up your hi/lo class in the evening. I guess you can tell about my post about the late meeting that I am not a night time gym person. I have a hard time teaching at night and try to avoid it unless it is an emergency.
