Do you have room for one more..........

I decided to delurk..............

I joined a gym 3 weeks ago (never thought I would) and LOVE it. I was a runner and an indoor/outdoor soccer player, so I never saw myself inside a gym. I missed out on a lot!

I am 37 years old, married for 5 years and have 2 beautiful kids, a DS age 4 and a DD age 3. My kids are 17 months apart and the BIGGEST mistake I made was not getting back into shape after my DS was born before I got pregnant with my DD. Ah well, live and learn.

I'm about 50 lbs overweight, yikes! My goal is to lose 40 lbs now and when my DD goes to school I can then work on the last 10 lbs (finding the time to work out and juggling everything else is difficult. When both of my kids are in school, I'll have most of my mornings free to tackle the last 10 lbs).

I am new to this and I will probably have a lot of "dumb" questions, so please, no laughing at me, LOL!!

glad you are enjoying the gym, but playing soccer sounds fun too. maybe you can join a league again and get some extra exercise that way.

I would say that there are no stupid questions, but there are. I doubt you'll ask anything stupid though!! :)

Welcome.

Welcome Frazz! I have a 5 and a 3.5 year old (boy, girl). Mine are 19 mos. apart and I didn't work out at all during either pregnancies. I was working full time after each births and it was hard to get some time to work out - plus I was just too darn exhausted. But I quit my FT job, started home day care (now part time) and last year I started working at a health club part time. My kiddies are in pre school and I take that time to go to the gym. I'm glad you are enjoying working out at the gym - it's great to make time for yourself . . . especially with two toddlers!

Welcome aboard - there are a lot of wonderful and experienced women on this board. I'm sure you will be glad you de-lurked!

OMG....we must be twins. I too run a home daycare, full time though. I also worked after my son was born (p/t evenings) and I quit after the birth of my daughter to start with the home dc.

I am closing my dc when my DD starts Kindy, then I'll have mornings all to MYSELF!!! (can you tell I'm a little excited,LOL)

Thank you for the welcome.

Hi, welcome to Gym Rats! I always say there are no dumb questions. I think it is wonderful that you joined the gym and you love it. That is one of the most important things with exercise. You have to like what you are doing to keep going. I think the interaction with other gym members is good too.

If it makes you feel any better, my first 2 children were 2 days under a year apart. It can be "challenging". At least you stopped at 2 kids....LOL!

Hope you are able to come by a lot even with your busy schedule.

I hear from so many moms who did home d/c when their kids were little. I did home d/c full time when I first started, but went to part-time (3 days/week) this past fall when my two started pre-school. I like doing part time better than full-time - I have 2.5 hours to myself two days/week!!! I, too, plan on quitting when DD starts kindergarten. But I'll have to see how it goes with money. I hope to start working more in the fitness field by then. I love my job I have at the health club and wish I could work more hours there, but I'm limited because of my 'day job'.

Welcome to the board. Glad you decided to introduce yourself.

I too am the mom of two. Mine are 19 months apart, though much older than yours, 9 and 10. But, I remember the days well. It does get easier the older they get, as I'm sure you've already learned. Children close in age really have the added bonus of becoming great buddies/friends, mine have regardless of being a boy/girl combo. My kids are really close. Not that they don't frequently attempt to make the other miserable, but for the most part they are partners in just about everything.

I also parallel your life another way. Though not exactly, I've not done home day care. I have however worked in early childhood education for many years, first as a teacher, then as manager and consultant at a non-profit, and now for Army Child and Youth Services in Hawaii.

Again, I'm glad that you have joined us and hope that you find the board as wonderful as the rest of us do. Jen and Jean and all the others are really helpful.
