question about abs workout

I was just wondering about something. I notice that I rarely if ever have sore abs after my workouts. Yet almost all my other muscles are just aching for days. I do a sculpt class twice a week in which abs are part of the workout and i truely put everything into it and I feel the burn as i am doing them but afterwards no post workout ache. Do you think i am working them hard enough? Do you need to feel them afterwards to know you challenged them? Just curious about this. I do a small ab workout on the other three days on my own. I have to be careful with some moves as i have a bad back but otherwise i feel i do challenge them. I remember when i first started working out my abs were killing me and i haven't felt that in a long time..what's up? Suzanne

I would say to try some new exercises. Try a plank and challenge yourself to hold them longer each time. Or Pilates. I don't do Pilates very often and when I do do them, I HURT. Also, are you keeping your abs tight while doing cardio and other sculpting moves?

Hope that helps!

Do you feel them when you're working them?

Thanks to you both for your suggestions. I do feel my abs when i work them, i do feel the burn. I try hard to focus on the movement and muscle. I will try and mix it up a bit and see what happens. Thanks suzanne

you could be working them well and they just don't get sore. i usually don't get sore anywhere unless i do something new for the first time, or the first time in a long time. maybe it's time to change up your ab exercises and do something a bit different. but in general, if you feel it when you are working them, it doesn't matter whether you are sore later or not.
