It gets worse before it gets better?

I started this workout regiment about a month and a half ago. It work out five days a week. My workout consists of 15 minutes of strectching, 30 minutes cardio and 10 minutes abs, 45 minutes lifting. My lifting rotates... (1)chest/back shoulders, (2) arms, (3) buns and legs.

At first it was great... my waist slimmed down and my legs look toned. The only problem is my arms!! I've been building the muscle without losing the fat! What am i doing wrong? I even took a measurement and my arm diameter has increased a little over an inch! ACK! My arm is bigger now.., what happened?

My friend says that it's supposed to be like that because i'm building muscle. She said in about three weeks or so... i should notice that my arms slim down. Is this true? should i keep to my routine? should i cut out the arms?

Please help! thanks!

hi and welcome!

i agree with what jean said. but also, it sounds like your weight lifting is heavy (haha) on the arms. you'll get more calorie burning bang for your buck if you focus more on the larger muscles like chest, back, glutes, hams, quads. if you arms are muscular enough and you are more interested in losing fat, i'd focus more of your weight lifting time on those larger muscles and back off the arms a bit. don't neglect them though!

congrats on sticking with such a consistent workout schedule and making some real changes in your body. i'm sure with time, as jean says, you'll see even more.
