Weight loss program update...

I posted here about a month ago that I was going to try a few things to check my weight loss and with DH's help, track the progress. I decided to give it a month and it's been about that long. We looked at the results last night and unfortunately, it was really hard to tell exactly what happened. There was a 4.5 loss within the first week but since then, I have essentially fluctuated up and down within that range of about 5 pounds, sometimes hitting the high and sometimes hitting the low. DH charted it on a trend line and it technically is pointing downward but it's very slight. With bodily fluctuations such as water, waste, etc., it's hard to say for certain that I did indeed lose any weight. We were disappointed that it wasn't more clear cut since I went from eating about 1800 calories every day to eating 1800 calories every other day and 1200 on the off days.

I am still taking the l-tyrosine and will finish off what I have purchased but will not buy more.

I haven't seen any results from the mesotherapy and am going to go for one more round of sessions (three more). If there are no results after that, I won't be continuing.

Since we didn't see much success with this past month, my plan for next month is changing... We did a great job planning my 1200 days to make sure the macros were where they should be but it was more of a free-for-all on my 1800 days and I know that I got lazy at times. So, we're going to plan the meals for those days too. I am also going to change the macro spread in favor of a less balanced, higher protein (which means lower carb... *gulp*) diet to see if that changes anything. (I so love my oatmeal, my whole wheat bread/tortillas and my legumes so this is going to be challenging.)

I had increased my cardio to about an hour 5 days a week and that was just tough. The results don't justify continuing to do it. I'm still going to aim for 5 days a week of cardio but I'm going to do my running program for 3 days a week (which takes me about 23 minutes and I'll probably just stay on the treadmill for an even 30) and then do 40 minutes on the other days. This seems more reasonable to me.

I'm going to have my body fat checked this week and it'll be interesting to see how/if it's changed.

So, there it is.... if any of you have thoughts or feedback, please share. :)

Kel, instead of upping your cardio do you think more resistance exercise may help by speeding up your metabolism a bit?

Hey undone, good to see you back!

In regards to doing more weight training, I've always read that if you do more intense lifting, then 2x a week is plenty but if your lifting is more moderate, then 3x a week is necessary. My training sessions are pretty intense (at least, I feel they are) so I'm not sure increasing that is the way to go.

The l-tyrosine was supposed to be managing stress and boosting metabolism. I think it's safe to say it was a waste of money (which I suspected it would be but I figured it couldn't hurt to try).

The reason I vary my calories day to day is because I'm calorie cycling. Yes, technically it averages out to the same amount per day but the idea is that it keeps the body guessing. You know that when you eat too little, the body thinks its starving and holds onto fat for survival. I'm quite sure that with my activity level 1200 calories is ridiculously low so I was trying to prevent my metabolism from slowing by balancing it out with higher calorie days. This is a technique that quite a few bodybuilders use, especially when they're trying to cut.

I've never heard of carving! I'll have to do some research on that. If you decide to do it, please keep me posted and I'll let you know what happens with the meso. :)
