Are we ever satisfied?

Jean's question of the week prompted me to think of this... Do you all think we'll ever be satisfied with our levels of fitness? Or, are we all Type A gymrats who need to have ever-changing goals? (I'm not saying this is a bad thing... just pondering the personality types of gymrats.)

What kinds of exercises are you going to do for rock climbing?

Anything that will give me SOME upper body strength. I've never consistently done push-ups, which will help me be able to handle my own body weight initially, something I can't really do. Arm weights for biceps/triceps, etc. I don't know when if ever I'd be able to move on to pull-ups, which would probably be the ideal thing. But my goal is really to not have to rely solely on my leg strength to get me up the side of some cliff. I am just afraid of getting "big". I know since I'm a girl, I can't get THAT big, but still.

I know theoretically your legs should do the brunt of the work but I never got there because my forearms are what constantly slowed me down.

i meant, let's go rock climbing so you can see whether you are better at it now that you do core work!

running is real cardio. so is teaching step. you are just a high intensity snob.

No, I know my legs are fine the way they are. I know I lack upper body strength, which is something that comes easily to men, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to build a girl-amount :) And I am back into doing abs and stuff, so once my core is stronger, that should help as well- since I've lost a lot of muscle there, doing anything athletic has had a different feel. I still know how to use my core, but the muscles don't want to keep up at the moment!

Well, I don't get that exhiliration feeling doing lower intensity stuff.
