I made shepherd's pie with mashed cauliflower and that was really good. The only bad part was that it didn't get crusty in the oven like potatoes would. My bf gobbled it right up and asked for some to take home, that's what counts, right?
This morning I am going to spinning (instructor has not picked on me again) then grocery shopping, and house cleaning, as my parents get back from Hong Kong tomorrow. BF comes over tonight.
Breakfast: babybel, banana, soy milk Lunch: roasted veggies added to canned veggie soup (Habitant brand is awesome, blows Campbells right out of the soup pot!) Dinner: penne in vodka sauce, grilled chickens

4 pull-ups? Impressive! Gold Star for you today! I'm afraid I have to surrender my title of "Push-Up Princess" for the time being. I can't seem to do very many at all. I don't know if my top is heavier or if my arms are weaker. I can curl the same amount, but I haven't tried benching yet. 2 weeks ago, the plank was difficult, but I can do it now. Maybe push-ups will suddenly come back just like the plank did. My lower abdominals were very weak but suddenly returned to nearly full strength this week.
Breakfast - eggs, bacon, oatmeal with 1/2 banana
AM Snack - fruit salad, Fiber One Cereal
Lunch - Roast, salad, pasta with veggies
PM Snack - Protein shake with added fruit
Dinner - Chicken, Broccoli, and another vegetable
Snack - apple or nectarine or the other half of my banana
DD's pediatrician told me to be careful about my vegetable consumption because it could cause gas in dd. I haven't noticed a correlation but I have stopped eating salads late in the day. The pediatrician also warned me about spicy foods. (The lady at the check-out line at the grocery warned me too, as if it were somehow her business. Why is she inspecting my groceries in the first place? (Sorry, still sleep deprived.)) I ate super spicy during my whole pregnancy and continue to eat spicy and dd doesn't have a problem with it. She's only sensitive to dairy and wheat, I think.
Will your kids eat your lasagna experiment? I know when I was a kid, you couldn't get me to touch cauliflower and I had never even heard of tofu at that time. Do you make something else for them or are they game for what you eat? Does your dh eat that too? Mine wouldn't dare.
Congrats on the pullups Jean! And I want to know how your lasagne works out.
I'm working until lunch and then I'm planning to spend the afternoon packing as much as I can. We'll probably stay in and watch a movie tomorrow night. As I mentioned before, we are celebrating DH's birthday tomorrow so he's getting brownies for breakfast (his request) and then we've got a few house things to take care of. Tomorrow night we're going to a baby shower and then the walk-through for our new home is on Sunday.
Did the running program this morning and it went really well! Much better than I expected. I am proud of myself for running 20 minutes without stopping.
I saw a documentary about the chicken industry while I was in college. I couldn't eat or prepare chicken for 2 years. I still get a little nauseous when I prepare chicken and I have trouble eating it sometimes.
yes, chickens are treated the worst of any farmed animals.
just avoiding eating chicken or eggs (and replacing them with non-animal foods) does a huge world of good in terms of preventing suffering. if people are going to do just one thing (not just one thing in terms of their diet, but one thing in ANY aspect of their lives) to make the world a more humane place, eliminating chicken and eggs from their diets
Housework and studying today. Have a Bud & Spud to attend tonight, but will have to eat at home since I won't be eating the meal or drinking the beer (I'm the lifetime Designated Driver). No classes, clients or anything that requires me to go anywhere near a gym 'til tommorrow. Hurrah!
Breakfast: Well, I'm currently working on a mug of hot lemon water, to be followed by some sort of tea, but can't decide what to eat. The luxury of a day off is messing w/ my brain.
Snacks: ww pita or carrots w/ roasted red pepper/chili pepper hummus; I might make some baba ghanouj; fresh fruit; chili-lime tortilla chips w/ fresh salsa
I am going home this weekend, and eating any freaking thing I want, because I deserve it right now. Not only because I've been working my butt off and can fit comfortably into my old jeans (yay!!!), but because of Wes.
Off to consume an entire box of Girl Scout cookies, and be completely fine with my state of sloth...
i bought baked tortilla chips since i'm trying to lose some weight - sol, you gave me the idea. but they are gross! what brand do you get? why are they so gross? fat makes everything yummy :(
