(with the caveat that i still think the ideal is to eliminate eggs and poultry) free range is better than factory farmed, but there is no guarantee that it is all that much better,
LOL. You'll notice I never mention just tortilla chips in my journal. These chips are great w/ the fresh mango/peach/pineapple salsa (which is just OK w/ other chips) one of the grocers has, but I admit I'm not wild about them just on their own. They're pretty good w/ regular fresh salsa, but suck w/ mass produced jarred stuff - I'd rather eat them plain then. Baked chips'll never measure up to the fatty fried ones, but after years of eating things like homemade pita or bagel chips, melba toast, etc. and having tried all the big brand names' baked chips liking these ones is a relative thing. If you're just used to the yummy fatty kind these are going to be a tough sell. Like I said, I do buy the fried ones to but try to stick w/ organic ones using the expeller pressed oil.
These are always good. Way better than the prepackaged stuff but far less convenient. So are pita & bagel chips done the same way. I like to add a sprinkling of spices as well.
As a rule, Jean, free range are higher in O-3s than regular eggs, although not as high as the ones that are marketed has high in O-3s (these birds are fed a diet heavy in flax usually, but are not neccessarily raised humanely). That makes them healthier & more humane than the other options, IMHO. When I still ate eggs I always went w/ free range, they're costly but they were worth it. (Which reminds me - other than the scrambled eggs #1 Son made for his dad & himself Xmas morning they haven't had eggs or anything containing them since last summer. Funny they don't seem to have noticed. ;-> )
