Running & appetite

I did my 20 minute run this morning (woo-hoo) and I cannot believe my appetite today. It has been through the roof. Today is one of my low calorie days and I'm usually a little bit hungry, but wow. I feel like I've been ravenous all day long. Any other runners experience this? To boot, I'm also incredibly sore from my strength training yesterday and I'm sure that's contributed.

It went much better than I expected. My heart rate was lower on this run that it has been on previous runs (conditioning, I hope!) and I did this run outside with DH. I promised myself that I wouldn't clock-watch because that just makes things worse so I decided beforehand when we reached a certain street intersection that I would check to see how we were doing on time. When I checked, we were just at 21 minutes so I did an extra minute without even meaning to. :)
I used to get ravenous on my low calorie days when my macros were weighted more heavily towards carbs. Since switching to high protein, those days have all but disappeared (I still get hungry, but it's not the I'm-about-to-chew-through-my-own-leg hungry... it's more snack/boredom hungry.)
There's another fitness discussion group that I check out and one of those posters there has mentioned repeatedly that running really seems to stoke his appetite and his metabolism. I wondered if that is what is happening here.
Btw Jean, I'm still saving a brownie for you. :) You can have it for breakfast tomorrow.
I am a runnner - maybe that explains why I am ALWAYS hungry! ;)
Honestly, though I do really intense hour long kickboxing classes and not matter what type of exercise I do nothing is a constant challenge everytime I go out there like running is.
I would have to agree! Except for maybe swimming - that's every bit as challenging for me, too. And makes me eat like a piglet.
