question on dairy and dorm food!!

a while back i posted a message about how much i was supposed to eat. i also noted that i hate drinking milk and am only doing so because of calcium. some of u said that dairy isnt good for you. i can see the arguements in that. i was wondering what were the easiest, most common ways to get calcium if u dontw ant to drink a lot of milk or eat a lot of cheese?

also, you all gave me great tips on eating better (ie. whole grains, micro/macro nutrients) but what exactly are macro and micro nutrients? also, i live on campus and can buy a few things for myself, but i dont have a lot of money, and unfortunately the food service people on campus dont think its real "cost effective" to supply things like skinless boneless chicken breast, instead supplying fried chicken patties (literally, they said it wasnt cost effective, even thought they have posters about weight loss and healthy eating plastered all over the cafiteria lol). ill give you some examples of what there is to choose from.

a sub or wrap (altho i dont think its a lot carb wrap, not that i would get one cuz i dont like them), mini personal pizzas with toppings, bread sticks, white pasta with marinara, whatever soup they have but its loaded with salt so i dont usually get it, salad stuff but its all iceburg lettuce so it doesnt taste like much, bagels, can make a waffle, grilled cheese which is LOADED with oils and fat YUCK, toast, sometimes they have fruit but its all bruised and gross most of the time...thats monday through friday until dinner time, from friday night to sunday night its a choice between burger king (on campus), sub place, fried chicken and fries, or pasta/pizza/ breadsticks, bagel sandwhich, bagel with low fat cream cheese, fruit (better than cafeteria but not that great ), a prepackaged salad, prepackaged sandwhich, carrots and dip.

thats most of it. there are a few good things in there for me, but honestly, i get bored easily so i guess im asking about the calcium, and what i should choose of what i wrote my school serves, and what FEW things i can buy that i can keep in my room. also, about the calcium thing, my friend has these chocolate chew things that are for calcium, are those worth a try? she seems to like them.

sorry for the long message but thank you for your help once again! :)

oh ONE LAST question lol im going to stop eating after 7:30 or 8 at night, but what if i miss dinner or something, and i know that ill be ok, i might be a little hungry but not the end of the world. is it really bad to not eat anything if u miss the deadline???

thanks again

Jessica
