All I take with me when I run is tissues since my allergies have been so bad. I don't drink while I run. I'm doing the 25 minute runs right now so I don't really feel that's too terribly long to go without water as long as I hydrate well afterwards. When I start doing longer runs though, I'm going to need to figure something out.
Nope, it's not just you. I can't drink from those wide mouth bottles either. I nearly gave myself a shower on an elliptical trying to drink from one of those once. I stick with my trusty Baja Fresh cup that has a lid and a straw.
when i run outside, it's just me and my house keys, usually tied to my shoelaces. i don't usually bring my ipod.
when i bike i usually just take one bottle full of water in my bike's bottle holder and my house keys. if i want to carry my wallet or anything else, i wear a backpack while biking.
i haven't really gone on any long hikes lately. usually one of us will wear a backpack with snacks, a map if we need it, anything else we want to bring like a camera, and then stick nalgene bottles in the side bottle holders of the backpack. of course, plastic bags for dog poop if we bring the dog. oh, and my new thing is i always bring extra plastic bags when i hike, because i always end up picking up so much garbage along the way and i'm sick of just carrying it in my hands the whole way home.
speaking of running outside, at the gym i saw someone had a cool id tag that velcro-ed onto her shoelaces that had her name, address, phone number, and blood type (and presumably you could add other important medical info). that seemed like a really good thing to get if people jog outside by themselves. i think i'm going to get one.
yeah, they are hard to drink from, but it gets easier with practice. as i said, it's similar to when you have to grab a paper cup of water at a race and drink it without choking yourself if you want a drink, so it's a good thing to practice doing.
Oh, you mean the neoprene bottles? *giggle* :)

HAHAHA! yes those neoprene bottles are a bit tricky to drink out of while running. you
You had me thinking, oh no, did I get the wrong name again??? I was picturing the word Nalgene as I typed it to make sure I had the right one.

jean, this is the thing i saw that a woman had at the gym. http://www.roadid.com/shoe_learnmore.asp
I'll bet I could find something like that at Dick's sporting goods. That's such a smart, simple idea.
Maybe kel and I should work in some drinking practice, too...;-)
