registration is open, and online registration is supposed to be up tomorrow. i'm really sad because my favorite instructor, marcus irwin won't be there this year :(
hopefully, it will still be fun. i'm going to take a more wide variety of classes this year anyway.
anyway, everyone should start making plans to come down to DC now! there's a discount for registering before may 15th - only $250!
for those of you who haven't heard us talk about DCAC before, it's a group fitness and personal training conference that is super fun. anyone can attend, but personal trainers and gf instructors can get much needed CECs by attending. there's also a trade show with music, fitness clothes, and exercise equipment and there are a lot of certifications you can get the day or two before the conference starts (extra cost), including AFAA certification for those who want to get their group fitness certification.

Do we still get a group discount for 5 or more?
they still have a group discount, but it's $20 MORE expensive than the early (5/15) price. i'd rather register early and get the $20 off.
i also notice that thomas the promise won't be there this year either :(
on the bright side, there's a lot more spinning workshops!
i think we should all register for a step class together. the big step classes are the highlight of DCAC for me.
it looks like there
Those sound great!
douglas brooks and his wife candice brooks are both great, but i like jay blahnik a lot too.
you can register online starting today at www.dcacinc.com and sign up for sessions at that time, or come back later to sign up for sessions. i don't know why they haven't alerted their mailing list - i just happened to stop by their website to see if the sessions were up and they were.
i'm going to sign up as soon as the online registration is up.
i just figured out all the sessions i want - if you want, i'll email you what i picked.
Jean,
i know, it's really hard! plus, some of the classes i won't get ACE CECs for, so i want to minimize those but there are some i really want to take.
this is how i decided - i picked a couple of step classes i REALLY wanted to take, and the few other courses that i REALLY wanted to take. i personally like taking step and hi/lo late in the afternoon, because it's a fun way to end the day and more importantly, even if i'm really tired, i'll still be into it.
speaking of being tired, most people will tell you to not plan on participating in active workshops back to back all day. either schedule some lectures, or plan on just watching and taking notes at the workshop rather than participating. it's too much to just be working out ALL DAY. but i can't bring myself to do that. i always plan on doing back to back classes all day. i'm not taking any 6 am classes though, and i'll probably leave on Sunday at 1:15 or maybe even at 11:30.
so after i pick the few classes i DEFINITELY want to take, then i decide what types of categories i want my other classes to be in - core, sports conditioning, etc. sometimes that really narrows things down, for instance i definitely want to take something related to kickboxing and there really aren't that many options. so then i just fill in what looks good around my top choices, making sure to give myself a good variety. i like doing pilates and yoga type things early in the day when i'm not yet sweaty, or as a break between tough cardio classes. i try to take a mix of things for fun and things i SHOULD take.
the best thing to do is print out the registration sheet listing all the sessions and sit in front of the computer looking up the various session descriptions. mark the ones that sound good and cross out any you definitely DON'T want to do. then go through and pick.
