Hi All!
I had my first session with my personal trainer last night and it was AMAZING!! I am in horrible pain today and it will probably get worse tomorrow, but I love it! Does anyone have any advise on how to lessen the pain for my session tomorrow?

hi and welcome to the board! you are a true gym rat: "i'm in horrible pain and i love it!" LOL!

congrats on getting started with a personal trainer, that will really jump start your fitness plan or revitalize it, if you've been working out for a while. assuming all the pain is typical delayed onset muscle soreness, not injury, you can reduce the soreness by taking a hot bath and/or

Is it pain or soreneess? You should not be experiencing any pain when you're lifting or afterwards. If you are, you're doing something wrong. Tell your trainer about it and he/she should be able to make some adjustments to form to eleviate any pain. As for soreness... very normal, especially if you are doing something different. The best advice I have is to keep working out. Your body will adapt. Hot saunas or showers are great for relaxing muscles. Also stretching helps. Hope you stick around and welcome!

good point about stretching - a yoga class is wonderful when you have sore muscles.

just remember to stretch when your muscles are warm - like after a hot shower or after some cardio.

Thank you for all your advice and the warm welcome! I will defineltey start warming up before the trainer arrives. I don't think that I was to pay her to warm me up. I will let you all know how tomorrow evening goes.
