Yesterday was a disaster with food because I left my bag in the refrigerator and then dh forgot to bring it to me. I held out until 11AM and then had to hit the vending machine for "healthy alternatives." Our machines are terrible! You know(or you may not know if it's been a while) the vending machines put a little symbol next to the snacks that are "healthy." Well, I had two choices: animal crackers and cookies. There are no nuts, trail mix, or even pretzels in that machine! I feel like I should request more healthy snacks but I don't eat out of the vending machine enough to feel like I should have a vote. Today I have my meals and am planning on a much better day. BTW, I had a pretty good workout yesterday. DD wouldn't let me do anything so I used her as my weight instead of my hand weights. I held her to my chest and did lunges and squats. I layed her on my shins and did leg extensions, one leg at a time. Then I put her on my chest again and did abs. I felt kind of guilty "using" her but she seemed to enjoy it!

Breakfast - 2 hard-boiled eggs, coffee, orange

Snack - Orange

Lunch - chicken, mixed vegetables

Dinner - salmon, veggies

Working chest and triceps today. And I'll throw abs in at the end.

That's a funny thought. What would we think of ourselves if we looked at our meals 5 or 10 years ago?

i actually ate pretty healthy 10 years ago. the biggest difference between now and then is back then i ate a lot of refined carbs like pasta. also i drank a lot of diet coke compared to now. but

10 years ago I lived on McDonalds, pizza, and any sort of baked good I could find...

10 years ago my journal would have been something like this:

Breakfast: cookies
Lunch: McDonalds combo
Snack: chips & ice cream
Dinner: meat, white rice, veggie

Exercise: what's that?

This reminds me of a Lean Cuisine commercial. Jen, did you grow up eating well and only made minor changes as you advanced in years and consciousness? What about when you were in college? How did you manage pasta with asparagus?

yes i was very "lean cuisine" and "cooking light" back then (except vegetarian). i cooked and baked a lot more than i do now.

i'm not sure what you mean about how to manage pasta and asparagus, i just chopped the asparagus and mushrooms and sauteed them

Ten years ago, it was the middle of the "fat free" era.
