Happy May Day! For newbies, we've set long term (LOL, well swimsuit season) goals under the "Motivation Challenge".

Thank you for the wonderful encouragement, Jean! I jogged/walked yesterday and it was the first time that I have every actually enjoyed running! I started running three weeks ago when I first started seeing my trainer and I was miserable and hating it for the first two weeks. Thank you for suggesting the cool runnings website. They have some wonderful suggestions and getting started plans. I intend on using that quite a bit. I will keep you updated on my progress. Thanks again!

You hit the enjoying running part much sooner than I did.

I am proud of myself for last week, so I am wanting to really achieve some goals this week.

1) Do some sort of cardio after one of my swims this week

2) Go to TKD one extra day, since school will no longer stop me from this

3) If I start feeling better, drink one extra bottle of water a day

This week I vow to:

Get back on SBD and cut out bad carbs and processed snackfoods.

Cardio four days, two days of lifting.

Work on my pilates certif.

Drink more water, lets say two glasses more.

Journal my food intake.

that's not pathetic at all! i'm super impressed that you quit smoking - congrats!!!

if you are just getting started with cardio, though i don't know that it's a great idea to try to run a mile without walking. combining running and walking is a safer and more efficient way to build up your cardio fitness and build up to more running.

Thanks! Quitting smoking has been much harder than I had ever imagined. I always told myself that I was not addicted because I did not smoke a pack a day and I have always been very healthy (eating and streangth training). Ha, I was wrong!! :) I probably should have clarified. I started on the jogging about two weeks ago and have been slowing building up by jogging and walking. I have built up to the point where yesterday I was able to jog 3/4 of a mile. I am pretty sure that I will be ready for the mile by the end of this week, but defintley won't push it. Thank you for the advise!

Hi Lee Ann! I'm the other runner that Jean mentioned and I think what you're doing it's great. It took me a while to enjoy running. I think I'm actually starting to enjoy the running part versus the being done/look what I accomplished part. The cool runnings website is awesome. Feel free to post on the forums... people are so helpful and friendly there.

Welcome to the board!
