Hey, someone else who eats Kashi Go Lean waffles! I tried the Kashi Heart to Heart waffles because I love the cereal but it tastes the same as the Go Lean waffles.

Has anyone tried both "indoor cycling" vs. spin?

I haven't taken my heart rate while swimming but I do breathe harder than my RPE would seem.

we've discussed this before here (not that i mind discussing it again) - there is a lot of variation between cycling classes, regardless of what they are called. strictly speaking, they aren't suppose to call it "spinning" unless they are trained by whatever particular company owns the name and they have to teach the class a certain way. but from talking to others here, i don't even think there is consistency from one "spinning" class to another - what the class is called doesn't predict how the class will be.

among other things, there are variations in the safety guidelines different instructors follow, how much guided imagery they use, the different variations or "exercises" they have you do, etc.

i've gotten picky about spinning, just as i am about other group fitness, and i like it to be the way this one instructor teaches it. she teaches on friday afternoons, and that's the spinning class i take every week (when i can) - she doesn't have people jogging over their pedals, she uses the tempo of the music well and has good music. she is very motivating and has us do sprints as if we were racing in a pack together, and other games like that. she determines intensity not by just saying "turn up the knob one rotation" but by which parts of our legs we are using and describing the road - so for an endurance run, she'll say we should be feeling it in our quads, not our hams or glutes, and we are moving briskly on a flat road. and the tempo of the music also helps set the intensity level.
