I have never been so insulted

Last night, at work, we had a staff meeting. This teacher whom I had previously only spoken on the phone with (we work different nights) says to me out of the blue, "Are you pregnant? BECAUSE YOU LOOK SO FAT!"
me: o.O!!!!! OMGHOWDAREYOUSAYSUCHATHING!!!!!!!!!!!
Then this miserable excuse for a human had the nerve to sit next to me at the meeting. There was pizza and pop at the meeting, of course I did not have any.
her: Are you going to have any?
me: No thanks, pizza is unhealthy.
her: Are you Canadian? I thought all Canadians ate junk food.

Now she is this weak scrawny little pile of skin and bones and I would just LOVE to know what parasite crawled up her @ss and died. I would also love to take her outside and beat the #%^#^ out of her until she cried for mercy. I seriously have never been so insulted in my life!

I made the comments about Asian people, because:

1) I used to be a scrawny bag of bones who thought exercising was for the unfortunate people who actually had to do something to keep their weight in control, and that "life was too short to eat healthy food."

2) They are observations I have made of people of my own racial group. Most Chinese girls (especially ones not originally from North America) do not exercise.

That's a good attitude. I love to give my husband a hard time about things like that, though, in a joking way.

OMG!! I can't beleieve she said that. Personally, unless I see a baby crowning at that very moment, I will never ask a woman if she is pregnant. It's happened to me too many times to count, and I will never put anyone else through that.

Not to condone that woman's behavior or anything...but you mentioned that she was not from Canada originally - has she recently moved from China/HK/Taiwan? Because I know from experience that Korean people (not Korean-Americans) are NOT tactful in the least way when they ask about one's appearance. It's not necessarily that they're trying to be rude, it's just the way they are. They don't see that their comments are hurtful because that's just the way the culture is. I haven't gotten the pregnant question but I have been told "Wow you've gained so much weight!" before, because of course compared to all of the 100 pound and under girls in Korea, I look like the fat cow visiting from the US. I don't know if Chinese folks are like this too, but I imagine it may be similar in other Asian countries.

Good point! My friend visited Taiwan in her teens and had terrible acne.

Yes, the point really isn't that she spoke freely...but rather that she called me fat when I so obviously am not. That is what I am angry about.

On a not-so-related note, the check-out clerk at my grocery store just got her super nasty, rotten, and missing teeth fixed with veneers.

It's kind of like noticing someone lost weight w/out implying that they needed it!
