Giving up foods...

I think I'm becoming even MORE of a food freak...
I've realized that I am slowing giving up foods that I don't think are healthy but previously found a place in my diet. I firmly believe that there is room for pretty much anything in a healthy and well-balanced diet, but I think I am refining my definition even more.
I have given up junky cereals. I used to keep them around and have a bowl for dessert on some evenings. I haven't bought any in a while and I really haven't missed them. I have occasionally raided DH's Honey Nut Cheerios, but that's about it. I'm on the fence as to whether my Frosted Mini-wheats will make the cut or not. I'm leaning towards cutting it but DH thinks that's a bit overboard since they're full of fiber.
I also gave up cool whip. I haven't found a decent substitute yet, but there is none in my freezer.
We bought some lime sherbet for a punch that we made for our housewarming party. I used to LOVE lime sherbet and was happy that we had some leftover. When I tried it, I didn't like it at all. It tasted way too artificial and full of chemicals. I guess that's the result of avoiding processed foods. When I manage to locate our ice cream maker, I'm going to make my own.
I have also cut way back on my diet soda. I still have it now and then, but I don't have it with dinner every single night anymore.
Oddly enough, giving these things up hasn't been that hard. I just don't buy them and don't seem to miss them all that much. I do miss my romaine and my protein pudding when we're out of lettuce and cottage cheese. Sick, I tell you. :)

I'm jealous of you guys!!! There's one TJ's that I can go to and it's 30 mins. away!! I wish there'd be one that's closer, but we've been told by a TJ employee that there's no talk of opening up one near our town :o< ! Oh well, it's worth the trip!
