workout on empty stomach?

I am trying to lose weight and understand that the best time to work out is when you can actually do it and do it properly. Well, I seem to be able to do it whenever so it's not a big deal for me to do it when I first wake up. I seem to recall that if you want to lose weight, doing it in the morning AND on an empty stomach has a slight advantage since it tends to use glycogen stores more.

is this right? does anyone have references for this or feel differently?

thanks!

There are so many theories out there on this that you could probably find something to support all views.

As Jean stated, everyone is different and your mileage may vary, but personally, I won't attempt to do a strength training workout on an empty stomach. I tend to feel very weak and not very strong when I haven't eaten and have no available fuel. I think it's fine to do cardio on an empty stomach and that doesn't tend to bother me too much.

Play around with it and see if you notice a difference with eating vs. not eating.

I always like to do my cardio on an empty stomach, first thing in the morning.
