thursday journal!

i'm actually up early enough to start a journal!

i just got back from a 2+ mile hilly run (with a bit of a walk in there) -- i'm proud of myself because i've had a hard time getting back into exercising since my break but i managed to drag myself out of bed early to go running in the MORNING! i can't remember the last time i did this. but it's too hot and polluted now to run during the day, and it doesn't cool off until pretty late at night and anyway the smog lingers in the air even after dark, so if i'm going to keep running i'm going to have to get up early and do it. it'll be better anyway - exercising was taking up too much of my time before. now, with exercising mostly early morning and lunch time, i'll have more of my evenings free for other things. like slip n slide in the backyard with my friends.

anyway, that's all my exercise for today.

food-
half a big banana, coffee, soysage, flax waffle

smoothie, wrap

dinner at vegetable garden - probably "the usual" - vegan chik'in, potatos, broccoli, carrots and lima beans in curry sauce over brown rice, jasmine tea.

chocolate

while we are at veg garden we are going to stop at the skate store and buy me knee and elbow pads for skateboarding. i'm terrified of skateboarding but living 2 hours from the shore (4 in summer traffic) learning to skateboard is one of the few things i can do on a regular basis to improve my surfing skills. so i am going to suck it up and give it a go. i hope i don't break anything. it's funny because T likes to skateboard but is scared of surfing because of the ocean. i'm totally comfortable in the ocean and not scared of surfing at all but terrified of skateboarding. i'm the rational one - which hurts more, falling into the water or falling onto concrete!?!?

I am up early as well... I slept alright but don't usually sleep as well when DH isn't here. It makes me giggle to think that he spent the night outside a fast food restaurant for chicken sandwich coupons. *grin* The funny thing is that when I talked to him yesterday, he was talking about giving them away so this wasn't even about the sandwiches. He did it just to do it. There's another Chik-Fil-A opening in September and he and his buddy will probably go to that one too. I talked to them last night and he said there were lots of families waiting in line. His friend's wife is referring to them as the gay couple. *chuckle*

I have a long day today with a little too much lag time between clients for my liking. I'm at the gym but I also have my two home clients today since we're going out of town tomorrow. I need to make a stop to pick up cat food and I'm not sure what else I'm going to do other than do strength training and cardio. I'm actually still sore from strength training on tuesday and running yesterday and normally I space my workouts better, but with us being gone this weekend, I won't get my usual stuff in on Friday and Sunday. We are planning to hike tomorrow but I don't expect we'll do much else that's physical. Well... physical in the traditional exercise sense. It *is* my anniversary and all. :)

Breakfast: egg scramble w/one egg, one eggbeater, half a fake sausage and some cheese, cantaloupe

Snack: protein shake

Lunch: chile relleno casserole, protein pudding

Snack: detour bar

Dinner: salad, chicken pesto pizza, maybe some fruit

Sigh, no working out today- babysitting from 9 til 5ish, then I have plans (YAY PLANS!!) with a friend this evening at 7:30. Not enough time to get in a workout, and shower and get ready- unless the mom comes home early and I get home at 4ish. They've shut our water off from 8 til 3, so I had to get up early to shower.

Breakfast: cereal w/ soymilk

Lunch: ww pita w/ ham, cheese, spinach, tomato. green pepper strips w/ hummus.

Snack: grapes

Dinner: Not sure, we're going out to dinner, and I don't know where we're going

That's so funny about the coupons!

Yes, this is apparently something they do when they open a new restaurant. The first 100 people in line get coupons for 52 chicken sandwiches. DH said that Chik-Fil-A even fed them last night (for free!). I think this has become a chicken cult a la Grateful Dead. :)

I never really heard of Chick-fil-a till I read this obsessive rant:

Yeah, but what hurts more in this scenario:

Getting your arm ripped off by a great white shark or skinning your elbow

I'm with T on this one.

So it sounds like Chick-Fil-A is to fast food what Krispy Kreme is to donuts?

Jean,
