It's quiet here this weekend! Is everybody off doing exciting and adventurous stuff?

I am not off doing exciting and adventurous stuff but am still having a nice weekend. DH and I got up early and tackled our garage. Since we moved, the garage has become the put-it-there-until-we-figure-out-what-to-do-with-it place and it was getting overwhelming. We finally unpacked everything and either found a place for it or threw it out. It's really, really nice to have that done. We also put the new lights and mirror up in our new bathroom.

Our supper club is this evening and I'm looking forward to that. Our theme is salads with a free-for-all for dessert. I'm making a spinach salad w/poppyseed yogurt dressing. I also made zucchini lemon muffins, carrot cake, peanut butter cookies, and watermelon sorbet. It's safe to say I've been on a bit of a baking jag this week. Baking is so cathartic and I don't know why. And most of the stuff I've made isn't my favorite so I don't eat much or any of it which is even better. (My hubby thinks it's weird that I don't need to eat my own stuff to get enjoyment out of baking.)

No official exercise today except cleaning out the garage, cleaning the entire house for the party tonight and cleaning the patio as well. I think we're planning to go running in the morning. Hope everybody is having a nice weekend!

Is your supper club a "Cooking Light" club?

Well, I'm going kayaking tomorrow which definitely qualifies as exercise. Today, I went to the REI attic sale, and scored some sweet deals, including rock-climbing shoes for $20!!! I plan on just going and learning by myself at one of the indoor gyms around here- screw Wes, I don't need him to learn how to do this stuff. And I'm not doing it because he does it- I honestly had fun the couple times we went rock-climbing and wanted to go again, but he doesn't like going to the gyms, because he thinks it's a waste of money, when he can go climb outside. But I didn't have shoes (he has a harness that fits me) and couldn't afford them at the time, so we were looking for cheap ones online. Oh well.

Then, I came home and attempted to put the new bike rack I'd gotten from Walmart online and it doesn't work on my car. It's not because it's from Walmart- it's a trunk rack, and the strap-on kinds are all made the same with, with sets of straps that hook on to various parts of your trunk. Well, the set on the bottom does not hook on, because the way my trunk is made, the lower edge of the hood is too fat for the hooks- which means, no trunk rack will fit my car. Sigh...so now I have to go hunting for a roof rack that is for cars that don't have those bars on top of them, and hope that works. They're really expensive, so I'm hoping I can find one on Craigslist. (The one I got at Walmart was a good deal price-wise, and so I'm pissed that it doesn't fit) Grrrr...

Yeah, I saw on their list of events for each month. I think only the Fairfax one does the climbing things, because they're the only one with a rock wall. The one in Bailey's Crossroads and the one in Rockville don't. Not sure about the other one- it's in College Park, I think. Earth Treks in Columbia, MD (the first rock gym Wes brought me to- he actually works nearby there now that he has a new job) offers various classes- one is an intro to climbing, which teaches you knot-tying and belaying etc, among other things. I think I'm going to take it, cuz I've only been twice, and don't remember how to tie any knots, Wes didn't teach me how to belay, as he just belayed me and autobelayed himself, and then they let you climb around for awhile. Good practice.

There's also Sportrock that's in Alexandria (might be more convenient for you) and Rockville.

Wes and I went to the Sportrock in Rockville the other time we went rock-climbing. And he taught me the knots, but I've forgotten, cuz it's been since December! Wes did a lot of bouldering- hence the wall he built in his room- but I need to build up some more upper body strength first!!

i had a great day - spent a few hours in the hammock (it was beautiful out today), skated a lot on my new skateboard. T and i and our next door neighbor B were skating outside the house and as an extra benefit, it's a great way to see your neighbors. we spent more time chatting with our neighbors in one afternoon (because you are in the street outside the house so you see them) than i have in 6 months. then the three of us went to play ddr at the arcade and later a bunch of us hung out at our house eating chips and guacamole and drinking champagne - another fabulous weekend so far!!

tomorrow i want to skate some more and then we are going to T's family's house for father's day.

We found each other through the Cooking Light supper club boards but it's not exclusively cooking light recipes that we use. There are a few of us who usually do CL recipes and our themes vary from month to month.

Looking forward to your email!

I think a $30 gift certificate for someone I don't know very well is plenty.
