I have this gym bag and though I pack it full I still need stuff I forgot. What do you guys put in there to help you get to the gym and thru the workouts?

I have, soap, towel, swimsuit, extra clothes, headphones, lock, gym badge, money, licence, makeup, hair ties, comb, brush, water, power bars, etc.

Seems like there is other stuff I could pack that i need when I get there but I am so on a high when I leave the gym I dont remember to think of it. I am hooked on working out now. I do it 5 times a week.

What are some great things you guys pack in there?

Do you carry only the CDs you need for that class or all the ones you have?

I have a CD carrier that holds about 24 or so, if I didn't, I'd wreck the cases in no time flat!

that's great that you are hooked now!

i have some things that i always keep in my gym bag - i don't have to remember to pack them each time (i actually have two sets of pre-packed gym bags, one at work and one at home) - that cuts down on forgetting things.

the things i have permanently packed in my gym bags are:

deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, small comb, disposable razor, hair bands, facial moisturizer with spf (all of the previous items are in a small cosmetic bag inside the gym bag), lock, empty nalgene water bottle, running shoes

in addition to those things, i have in my home gym bag only: swimming goggles & cap

my gym ids are on my key chain. so the only thing i have to remember to stick in my bag is my actual gym clothes and my ipod if i want it.

i have most of my cds for teaching in a cheap cd case, but not all of my cds fit in the case - if i want one that's not in the case i just grab the actual jewel case.

oh, a good tip for your group fitness cds - use a cd marking pen to write your name on all your cds. in case you ever leave one in the cd player you are more likely to get it back. i learned this lesson the hard way and lost one of my favorite cds before i wrote my name on my cds.

when i upgrade to a better ipod, i want to use my mini for my group fitness cds, so i only have to carry around my ipod and plug it into the stereo instead of carrying a bunch of cds. wouldn't that be cool? i don't want to fill up all the space on my mini with fitness cds though, so it'll have to wait till i get a better one.

My friend went to a spin class where the teacher asked what songs everyone liked and he used them off his iPod so he had a custom track for the class.

I still ID my CDs by the case they're in.

My has on any given day:

leg weights

5 lb. dumbbells

sweat towel

another bag that contains: tissues, makeup, scrunchies, facial washing cloths, lifting gloves, feminine hygiene products.

gym lock

ID cards for the gym

Lately I've been leaving the bag in the car and taking in what I really need.

Thanks for your ideas! Some of you are instructors here, wow. I tried spinning three weeks ago after doing weightlifting and mild cardio for three months.

Now I love the spinning! I never thought I could even do it at all, it is so intense. And I am starting to work out after not doing it for 10 years. Now, I try to do 5 days a week workouts. Getting good variety, I incorporate Pilates, Yoga, Spinning, weightlifting (had 12 training sessions to show us how to properly use weights), And the other cardio machines when I am not taking a class.

Thank you for having this board and for craving to be fit and healthy. I never felt better in my life.
