Food journal update:

Snack: homemade blueberry muffin

Lunch: light mac n' cheese, broccoli, trail mix

Snack: homemade blueberry muffin

Dinner: fresh green beans, falafel w/cucumber sauce, cherries

I got the green light from my doc to do some light exercise so provided I get up early enough tomorrow, I think I'll go for a walk.

DH makes it with cucumbers, cottage cheese, yogurt and some garlic. It's quite good and very refreshing.

do you guys have Canadian sitcoms and reality shows that we don't see here in the States?

I don't really watch TV, but we have Canadian Idol and Making the Cut..

what's a popular canadian sitcom?
hmmm...Trailer Park Boys?

do you have Canadian musicians that are popular there but not here? or do you export all your popular musicians to the US market, like avril lavigne and celine dion?

If you look at the Live 8 lineup for Barrie(http://www.sonician.com/live8/list.html) those are old, but well known Canadian artists, I don't know how well known they are in the US.

i've heard of some, but not others. they aren't all canadian, are they? motley crue and neil young aren't canadian, are they? Jet is very popular in the US now, are they canadian?

it's so odd -- it's like canadians are lurking throughout US culture, and we don't even know they are there a lot of the time. it freaks me out! now i'm sounding like that South Park movie. do people in Canada find that movie offensive or funny? do Canadians generally like people from the US or do they think we are obnoxious? do they get annoyed that we don't know much about their country and sometimes make jokes about it?

Not all the bands at Live 8 Barrie were Canadian..most of them..

do people in Canada find that movie offensive or funny?
I love that movie. I have seen it 40 times.

do Canadians generally like people from the US or do they think we are obnoxious?
We think the US in general is very obnoxious.

do they get annoyed that we don't know much about their country and sometimes make jokes about it?
We don't care.

Did they feel superior when so many people talked of moving to Canada after the last Presidential election?
No, most people were like, "ugggh, don't come up here!"

Do Canadians make jokes about how dumb it is that the US doesn't use the metric system?
Most Canadians still measure their weight in pounds and height in feet/inches...everything else is metric.

has anyone ever seen Canadian Bacon by the way?
I saw it, it was ok.

Doesn't this kind of sum it up:

do they get annoyed that we don't know much about their country and sometimes make jokes about it?
We don't care.

We're so US-centric that we think everyone thinks about us and cares what we think when actually no one cares, except when we go off and do stupid things that affect the world.

i think it's because we care so much what other countries think of us - i think the US public would be really insulted if there was a popular movie in Canada or France that had a song and dance number called "blame the USA"

i think it's a bit skanky of Canadians to be so conspicuous about making sure they aren't mistaken for US citizens in Europe and elsewhere. i guess i'm ignorant of all that unique and independent Canadian culture that is so different than ours, but "Trailer Park Boys" aside, for the most part English-speaking Canada seems to totally embrace US culture (and they aren't exactly standing up to us politically or economically either) but then as soon as it's not "cool" to like the US they jump all over that bandwagon like they are practically brothers with the french or africans or whoever. if Canadians were truly so different than US citizens, they wouldn't have to sew Canadian flags on their backpacks, they'd be self-evidently non-US. i think to some extent, no matter where
