i would just say "thank you for your input, i'll take that into consideration" every time he says anything and i would take it into consideration, but i wouldn't base my class around what he wants.
if you want to teach step though, you might have to push yourself beyond your comfort zone - step is hard to teach, especially at first when you are learning to teach it, and i don't think there is a way to learn to teach it other than going out there and trying it and sucking at it and feeling awkward and having a really hard time with it and then eventually getting better. i think it's fine to do a step segment as part of a combo class if that makes you feel more comfortable, but make sure you are doing enough step that you get good practice at it, you know what i mean? if you only do as much step as you are comfortable with then you won't improve at teaching it.

You know where I have my problem is I can put a combination together of 32 counts and when I get up there, I am not counting right or something, because it doesn't work out.
I have been doing kickboxing with step, and personally, I love it, and it gets my heart rate up.
I had the numbers in class yesterday, and he comes in late and starts.....drives me nuts.
I'm new at teaching step, too, so I keep it REALLY simple.
That is how I teach it, too.
Our stereo is horrible....
I use 128 but it seems slow to me.
I guess anything would work too for my classes ~ one is cardio combo and the other is cardio/abs!
