Good morning! Is it hot and humid where you are? It's going to be another long, hot day.

lots of people do that (sit in the back and take notes) so you won't look like the old lady in the back. i just think it's boring to do that. i'm really not going to DCAC to learn anything - i'm going to get CECs and have fun, so as long as i'm physically present long enough to get my CECs, i'd rather just shop at the trade show or skate or whatever and not bother sitting and taking notes.

i should figure out how many CECs i need so i know how many workshops i need to actually be present at from start to finish.

Yeah, realistically, there's no way I'll sit down and not be up and moving.

i'm not sure about forms, plus, AFAA is probably different than ACE.

but when you pick up your registration you'll get a list of how many credits each class is worth, if it's worth any. and the registration people will explain anything to you about forms or whatever.

There are so many things I never thought of with all this!

Are you going to bring a change of clothes or just go in workout clothes?

i will probably bring a variety of clothes in case i want to change throughout the day and/or before dinner.

i'll probably bring a second sports bra, pair of socks, and shirt to change into between classes, and a shelf bra top, clean undies, flip flops (walking around in wet socks is the WORST), and sweatpants to change into before dinner. plus a sweatshirt. seriously, i wish i had one of those rolling bags, because my gym bag gets so frickin' heavy. on top of that, i have to lug food, water bottle, the huge pack of registration materials they give you, wallet/cell phone/etc., and i think i need to bring a yoga mat for the stretching class i am taking. i might leave some stuff in the car and go back and get it when i need it if my bag gets too heavy.

i might not actually use all those clothes if i don't get super sweaty all day but i'll have them in case i want them. that's why i was saying i always have to make sure ALL my exercise clothes are clean for DCAC, because i basically go through two "costume changes" per day for three days straight - it's a lot of wet exercise clothes.

Thanks--I didn't think of bringing all that stuff. Is there room to change or do we use the bathrooms? Plus, I'll end up buying a lot of stuff, too, I'm sure.

they have plenty of water - they have water coolers in most of the exercise rooms, plus fountains in the hallways. you just need to bring a water bottle to put it in.

i'm not aware of anywhere to change except the bathrooms. there is a gym with locker room and showers in the hotel, but i don't know if we can access it.

Yeah, I know. That's why I decided to do the surgery diary in lieu of my fitness column. It seems like most of the shows I've watched show the person in the consultation and then they stroll into the doctor's office 3 months later. I personally found very little information online about what the recovery is REALLY like and that's a large part of why I decided to do the diary. I'm a very open person anyway and this gave me an opportunity to really tell the story. I've had several people approach me at the gym because they're thinking about it and it's nice to be able to refer them to the diary.

It's good hearing the details from someone who's going through it.
