Shopping

I didn't really want to go shopping this morning. Mostly because I have avoided shopping over the last couple of years because I've been so unhappy with my body and shopping was no longer fun. But, I figured I needed to face reality and just go do it.

It's funny... even with my compression garment on and stuff mostly smoothed out, I STILL had trouble buying clothes. Things just didn't look right or hang right or whatever. *sigh* I did manage to come home with two pairs of pants and two shirts. I splurged and bought myself the most badass looking pair of athletic shoes I could find though. :) Loud crazy shoes make me happy. I also got a gift for a client that's been training with me for a year.

I am slowly remembering that weight has so little to do with shopping. Clothes are just not cut for people who have any sort of womanly curves whatsoever.

I have a right to my opinion and my opinion is that wearing a rhinestone t-shirt to a high end preschool Thanksgiving party is tacky.

I agree completely that you are entitled to your opinion, just as I'm

I have breast implants and they are largish. I also wear bebe clothing on occassion. Does that make me a charo wantabe? I'll admit that I don't pick up my kids from Pre-K dressed like this, but that is only because they are in high school. I wonder if that makes me a desperate old lady looking for attention from my son's friends? That would certainly fit "u's" profile, wouldn't it?

Maybe some background info on me would change your opinion of my inability to age gracefully? I had my double mastectomy four years ago. I got my implants a year ago. I'm proud to look like a woman again, even if the one I most closely resemble is in "u's" words a Vegas stripper.

"U" I find you very offensive. And for the cl who says that it is ok for you to insult women with implants because they aren't the target crowd for here let me just say I'm glad I lurked and watched posts before joining this community. It didn't sting quite so much to find out that I wasn't wanted since I wasn't yet invested. Maybe you will get off lucky and only lose me, a lowly lurker with implants, from this.

I hope every one of you who condoned her so called harmless comments stops and thinks about what has happened here. Which side of the argument that you witnessed would you feel most comfortable presenting in person to women in my place, or even those who got the surgery because they wanted it, not because they needed it? The fine line between slander and opinion can be distinguished by the ability to say whatever it is to the person's face without fear of reprisal. So "u" are you up to the challenge? You want to go tell the other moms what you think of them?

I nearly let this thread die without comment. But then I would have been as cowardly as the rest of you. "U" why don't you go shove your "harmless comment" somewhere unpleasant, like under the noses of the poor women you have maligned! (and, in case you didn't notice, there was absolutely no sarcasm in my post)

personally, i never post something here that i wouldn't say to anyone's face, regardless of the situation the listener is in - i'm well aware that this is a public board and anyone in the world with any possible background could be reading this. in fact, as i mentioned it is quite the opposite - i'm much more careful what i say on this board as opposed to what i'd say to people face-to-face in private. i think this board, as a whole, is amazingly supportive and tolerant and i'm confident that will come across to most people who spend any amount of time here.

also, to quote what kel (wisely) said on the other thread - one person's post isn't reflective of the board's views in general. i would hope anyone visiting message boards on the internet would recognize that you are going to hear a wide variety of opinions, and not let one person's opinion determine your view of the whole board and miss out on getting to know a great (if ornery) group of women.

Or maybe we could pull a J.Lo and design our own clothing line made for gymrats!

I hope that I'm not too late here, but I probably am. I have implants, toddlers, and junior clothes that a sport proudly. I don't take offense to undone's statement because she does have a right to her opinion, and there is probably a reason for her opinion. I can't afford Bebe nor does Bebe make maternity, but I would go to the gym rat reunion wearing a Bebe t-shirt if I could just for the fun of rubbing it in. We are all pretty easy going here and I'm sure undone didn't mean to attack anybody personally.

Sorry you were so offended.
