I'm getting really sick of the weather. You know it's hot when the breeze feels like someone is aiming a hairdryer at you. I'm supposed to meet up with a friend some time this afternoon, I think, but I'm not sure. At 4:30, I have to leave to go to babysit in Bethesda- not sure when I'll be done with that. Tomorrow, I'm going indoor rock-climbing again, though. I found a female climbing partner- she'd posted an ad on craigslist and I was the second girl who responded, as opposed to about 20 men! (That's why I didn't want to post an ad!)
Yuck, yuck, yuck. I woke up with cramps. AF has arrived. Although, I am very lucky the way my cycle worked out with my surgery. I am in a MUCH better position to deal with it than I was three weeks ago. I was going to do another walk this morning, but AF has nixed that.
DH and I are going to have a fun day. Today is our cheat food day so I'm making oatmeal raisin cookies and we're going to take them to the theater to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We also have a few errands to run too. It's disgusting outside since the monsoons have arrived, but we're going to try to ignore it.
Nothing else planned. Just resting and relaxing tomorrow although we may meet up with MIL for a meal.
i find it so difficult to believe someone would waste a cheat day on oatmeal raisin cookies! there's no accounting for different tastes, i guess! have fun at the movie, it looks like a fun one.
i actually have to go teach cardio kickboxing now - i agreed to sub. i would be much more enthusiastic if i hadn't gone to bed at 3 in the morning and am now working on about 5 hours of sleep. the show we went to last night was excellent though - Strike Anywhere again. when we were coming home around 2 there was a really crazy lightning storm - i had never seen so many lightning strikes coming so fast before. i half way started to think those Tripods from War of the Worlds were charging up. plus it rained super hard. we lost power but luckily good old Pepco got it back on fast.
later today i plan to skateboard and that's about all i have planned for this weekend at this point. i think i'm going to try to see my friend J tomorrow. also finish watching the Battlestar Gallactica miniseries on DVD - it's really blowing us away so far. i've never seen anything like this on tv before. i originally poo-poohed it because i loved the original series so much, but after some really strong recommendations coinciding with the beginning of the new season i decided it was worth checking out. i highly recommend it for sci fi fans.
Btw, my husband LOVES the Battlestar Galactica series. I'm not much of a sci-fi fan, so it's not really my thing but I do enjoy the Firefly series. Have you ever seen it? It was on Fox for one season and got cancelled, but has since developed a cult following. There's a Firefly movie coming out in September.
Well, I nearly fell off my chair when I read that there would be a new Firefly season. DH did some checking and found out that the SciFi channel is just re-running the only existing season (which we of course own on DVD). There's talk that this *may* spark a new season but my husband tells me that Joss Whedon (the creator) signed some sort of contract that he wouldn't do the series for 10 years because he's got a 3-picture contract with Universal.
But, NBC owns the SciFi channel so we're thinking they could potentially cancel the contract if they wished.

I've not gotten into the BG-sorry was a fan of the old 1970's and cannot get past it to watch remakes.
Good news though.
