I sent a quick e-mail to the people that hosted the bench press contest to let them know how I felt about them posting our weight in the gym for everyone to see:
I’m glad the bench press contest was a success and I enjoyed participating. However, I was completely mortified when I walked into Dowd last week and saw my name on the wall with my weight posted. How mortifying! I just had a baby and I’m a little… OK, a lot sensitive about my weight right now, as are many women. If you want to see more women participate in the future, you could probably win them over by not posting their weight, maybe just weight class. I felt like adding a little note next to my name saying that 15 pounds of that number are pregnancy pounds AND I had lost 4 pounds since the contest! Just a little feedback for you.
They responded:

Someone from my gym just called me to personally apologize for posting my weight for the world to see.
It's great they were so responsive to your concerns (and no, you didn't sound super upset). It sounds like your letter did the trick!
Again, keep in mind that it was gutsy to do the contest AT ALL. :)
i agree. you sounded appropriately concerned, and they responded appropriately and yay for everyone involved for behaving so appropriately!
and i agree that no one probably even noticed or cared what your weight was and was just impressed by how much you lifted and that you should be proud for participating, and winning, by the way!!!
