I usually buy whole wheat bread that has nothing added to it.

it is so hard to find whole wheat bread with no corn syrup!

Ooh, tough choice! I face the same dilemma with my daughter too - she'll eat the whole/sprouted grains bread, WW pasta, and brown rice that I feed her, but I know that given a choice, she would absolutely go for the white versions (I would too, so how can I blame her?). I say go with what your kids like better. After all, it is still whole wheat. Just supplement it with other healthy things. I'd hate to be a kid and only barely tolerate my food!

It does no good to give them something healthy that they won't eat, or worse that will make them decide that all healthy food is nasty.

I would go with the "better than white" choice that they will eat.

That's a good way to look at it.
