So many of us use the BOSU, stability boards, ball, etc. for unstable surfaces.

I did that on the T in Boston a long time ago with my weight on one leg.

i always try to stand like i'm standing on a board - left foot forward, feet parallel, knees bent, balancing my weight equally in the middle. i'm sure i look crazy standing there surfing the metro but it makes the time go by faster and it's a good workout, my feet and lower legs are usually tired by the time i get to my stop.

That's funny because I do that too. Only I stand like I am sparing with my weight going forward and on my toes. I do that whenever I am just standing around. Sometimes I'll even start bouncing and that is when I get the looks. If I am bored at a store with dh (electronics just can't keep my attention) I'll walk around by exploding forward. Luckily I have kids and can pretend I am playing a game with them.
