Since I am way up north in Canada, we have no problem yet getting gas as a result of the hurricane. However, our prices shot up 18 cents a litre yesterday, which is a huge jump and also hard to take since they were already really really high.
Yeah, we have gas but it's so expensive. About $3 a gallon. I am SO glad I'm not driving back and forth to the gym twice a day. That was about 40 miles round trip. I'm running a little low in my car and not looking forward to filling up. We are also driving out to Los Angeles next weekend and the gas thing is going to be a bummer. :(
i haven't been to the gas station in a couple of weeks and i still have half a tank so i haven't noticed if there are lines or anything. yay hybrids.
speaking of this, i saw a guy in a hummer today. with gas at $3 a gallon and some SUVs getting only 12 miles to the gallon, that means they are paying 25 cents per mile to drive. um, that's a lot of math for me, is that right? if so, that's a lot of money!
So far we have gas, and it isn't a problem yet. It's just expensive. My durango is so hard on gas, that the gas prices are keeping me from going out right now unless I have to .
Murphy's Law being a constant in my life I put $15 gas in on Mon.or Tues. when it was $1.08.4/L to tide me over 'til payday on Thurs. (I could've filled up but figured the prices couldn't possibly get much higher - foolish girl). An hour later it was $1.19. I joined the boycott yesterday and was running on fumes when DH called this morning to suggest I fill up immediately as there's rumours that the price here will hit $2/L by the end of the day (it's already there in the Maritimes from what I've heard). It cost $50 for my 5-spd. Civic. That's crazy!
So, no shortage here but the prices are astronomical. I intend to keep my tank full in case of a shortage though because I can't really work w/o my car.
The price of everything is about to skyrocket as a result. The economic boom we've enjoyed for so many years just ended w/ Katrina (the end was coming, but its here now). No matter what we suffer as a result though it'll be insignificant next to what those poor folks in the south-easternmost states are going through.

We keep kicking ourselves because we put off buying the hybrid.

I filled up today at $3.09 a gallon. Wow.
But, in all fairness, my house is still standing, my DH and kitties are okay, and I still have all of my stuff. It could be a lot worse.
