Hope you get some rest! Sleep deprivation is awful.
I'm working at the food pantry today.
Looks like you had a great trip!
I'm using the candle emoticon because it's as close to a fire emoticon as I can find. Here's the story:
Yesterday, I made gazpacho for lunch and stupidly didn't wear gloves when handling the jalapeno. In the past, this hasn't been a problem, jalapenos aren't that hot. In fact, I have even put in the seeds and not really found it to be too spicy. However, yesterday's jalapeno was straight from the fiery depths of Hell, I could tell after 1 taste. I've STILL got chili oil on my fingers after about 5 thorough washes with soap and water and I can tell because when I scratch my head I feel burning on my skin.
Then I taught piano for 4 hours and drank water from my no-so-clean Nalgene bottle. Insta-stomachache. And came home and forgot to drink more water - woke up in the middle of the night with a horrible dehydration headache.
To top it off, if you remember my menu from the morning - banana, quinoa crunchies, coffee, fruit & cheese plate - led to some SERIOUS sugar jitters.
So today, I'm afraid to put on my contacts (guess I should put on gloves) and unsure of how to get those capsaicin molecules off my fingers short of giving myself a milk manicure!
Breakfast: 1/2 pita with banana & PB, blueberry yogurt
Lunch: gardenburger, roasted beets & sweet potatoes
Dinner: ???
Oh, and today I do lower body boot camp and have 1 piano lesson.
maybe it wasn't a jalapeno, could it have been a hotter pepper that you bought by mistake?
i wonder if that trick for getting garlic smell off your hands would work for hot pepper - you know, rubbing the skin on stainless steel under cool water? or maybe scrubing your hands with a paste of baking soda and a bit of water. definitely don't touch your contacts!
Jen - I thought I bought a habanero by mistake, but it definitely looked like a jalapeno. 2-3 inches, round, fat and green.
Jean - I dunked my fingers in my yogurt. Don't have any milk, but I read the fats in yogurt dissolve the capsaicin molecules. I'll try the olive oil later. It's gotta be better for my hands than using rubbing alcohol, which I was doing last night.
Well, I can always use more coffee...or sleep. But, I did read the call center part.
