Maybe it's just a greek woman thing, but we need our formal living rooms.

We used to have a really beautiful living room. It was a wonderful place to sit and read. Do you know who used it most? The cats. There was a chaise right by the window and they used to plant themselves there for hours to bird-watch. With DH and I, one of us will want to read and the other will want to watch TV, use the laptop, etc., but we still want to be near each other . That's why we agreed when we moved - no wasted space/rooms. And with the tiny amount of space we have now (1250 sq. feet), we cannot afford to waste space.

I'll bet the cats miss it!

I don't think the cats remember it. :P Plus, in our condo, we have a sliding glass door in the kitchen so I open the shutters so they can see out at eye level - we have a LOT more critters walking around out here anyway. Much more interesting cat-TV. :)

Well if being "used" means a room that you can vegetate in while watching t.v.

There's tons of stuff in my life that are pretty useless and I won't apologize for! The purpose of my living room for me right now is how it'll help sell my house when we move in a year or so. Forget the museum ropes--I need to encase it in glass so I don't have to dust or vacuum in there. It's the worst part of having a space I rarely use.
