maybe you've had good experiences in the past, but that's pretty much par for the course in terms of almost every home repair contractor we've had in to do work. they all lie, don't do what they say they are going to do. in my book, you are doing well if you eventually get the thing done (even if in a shoddy manner) they don't break or ruin something else in your house in the meantime.

I've never used a contractor before so I guess I should be forewarned.

i didn't mean contractor in any precise sense. i just meant anytime you hire a company to do work on your house. we've had the best luck with guys who do the work themselves or maybe hire one or two people to help them out while they do it themselves, but we've had a few bad experiences with guys like that too. luckily we have a good plumber, that's a very good thing.

I was using contractor in two senses, so it probably sounds confusing. The first "contractor" I talked about, the one cutting corners, was the contractor as in owner of the company who finds people to do the job. The other "contractor" I meant, the people who do the job but aren't employees of the company, just people the company picks up wherever to do the job.

Bummer, Jean. Contractors are a risky business. We are fortunate that we have a friend who builds custom luxury houses so whenever we need anything done, we use his people. Granted, they aren't always prompt (we are STILL waiting for the stucco repair since having our bathroom completed in June) but they do a fantastic job for a fair price. We used his landscape guy and he ended up charging half of what I'd budgeted. His tile people also did an amazing job in our bathroom and they did it for a song. Again, not the most reliable people but I have learned to just deal with that. Apparently, that is common practice in the contractor business.

It's working out great. I feel like a kid in a candy store. :) It's about 7 miles from my house which feels kind of far to me, but everything is far from my house so I imagine I'll get used to it. I had the hardest time deciding what kind of weights program to set up. I finally settled on doing what I was doing before - 3 day split, tri-sets, 3 sets per exercise. I keep reading about a lifting program called MaxOT on another board and I think I may do that next.
